I have a click in the suspension while reversing and braking. It is not rotational position as it happens at random spots on the wheel. It is only when braking.

Has anyone heard this before? Ideas? THX

I don't have self adjusting brakes but I wonder if that is the source.

THX for the input

The trailer has self adjusting brakes. Sent the video link to the dealer seeing if the have input. It does not happen in the forward direction.

Self adjusting brakes are FORWARD adjusting, opposite of automotive drum brakes.

Could be parts hanging up inside the drum... then snapping back into place. Could be broken or disconnected parts. Could also be a really loose (not adjusted correctly) shoe grabbing then letting go which lets it snap back into place.

The shoes can move around to move into place when braking. If they are too loose, they can snap around in there if a part of the shoe touches the drum and grabs.

Could also be seized components which prevents proper operation... and leads to problems mentioned above.

I suspect the noise goes away under braking conditions.

Pulling the drum off should uncover the problem right away.

Whether going forward or backward, when applying your brakes, the magnet will snap against the armature surface of the drum and while the drum is turning, the brake shoes will contact the drum, and then, when releasing the brakes, the magnet will drop away from the armature surface and the shoes will release from the drum. So there is a lot of activity inside each of the brake drums when the brakes are operated which makes various clicking noises. There is also a lot of movement in the suspension when all this is going on which also makes a lot of noise. Just sit outside at any park and listen to all the rigs pulling in and out and you will hear quite a bit of noise from all of the trailers. All this noise is very normal and should be expected.

Update - Question Resolved and Explained

Talked to the dealer and showed them the problem.

The issue is the magnetic actuator sticking and making a clunk sound when the brake hits a point of release of braking. The explanation makes sense.
