Yay! Just picked up my "new" trailer!

Just got a "new to me" 2009 Freedom Lite m--299 bunkhouse! Pulling it with a 2007 Chevy Duramax! Can't wait to make some great family memories in our new trailer!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the purchase of your "new to you" trailer. Exciting I'm sure!

Since you bought used, tires are a commonly neglected component from previous ownership. 3-5 years of service life when well-maintained; otherwise the risk of a catastrophic blowout increases exponential. If replacing, Carlisle is a preferred brand around here and won't break the bank.

Anyways, congrats again. Safe travels.

Welcome to the forum. You and your family will have hours and hours of great fun in that rig! Oh, by the way, take to heart Buster's advice on the tires. Look hard underneath and get back with us on a date of manufacture. That would be about the only little thing right off that would worry me.

Thank you for that info! I bet you guys hear this a lot, but I am still in disbelief about this trailer! I have been looking for a trailer like this for 6 months! Stored inside, brand new tires (I'll have to check the brand), bunks were really never used (grandparents got it for their grandkids), and everything else seems to be in great shape! I'm be asking some questions about a few things I've found on other threads soon!

Thanks again, I'm looking forward to getting lots of advice from everyone on here!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new to you rig.

I would double check the "new" tires and look at brand and manufacture date. Those 2 things will tell you if you got some great new tires or if they might be an issue. Let us know.

Welcome to the forum from Kansas City, MO! On the tires don't just check how they look but check the manufacture date on the sidewall.

Enjoy your new rig and make sure you have a great time making memories.

Welcome from Virginia. As others have said, check the brand and date code on the "new" tires. If you have any questions post in the Tires section of the forum. You will get plenty of answers.

I'd also add to check the battery being the age of the trailer. Batteries die of old age too, and check the water level in the battery if it is new enough to still be functioning. Even if you always plan to camp with full hookups you still need a functioning battery for some operational aspects of the trailer.

Looks like manufacturer date is January 2016, they are Goodyear tires....the trailer was stored in a shop so I hope that helped.....I don't see any cracking, but I was planning on taking to a local shop to have bearings, brakes etc checked, so I'll be sure they double check the tires too!

Thank you for your help!
