I don't see any need for everyone who is experiencing a slow forum to start trying to "fix" the performance of their home computer - whatever that may be. There are too many members having the same problem so it is highly unlikely that there is anything wrong with your computer.
We have reported the problem to GoDaddy and hopefully they will look into the issue that many of us are experiencing and do whatever it is that needs to be done to "speed things up". There doesn't appear to be any issue with our own software as near as we can tell.
We are awaiting a report from GoDaddy and until that is received, I'm afraid we will just have to be a bit more patient and put up with the "spinning wheel" for a while longer.
We will keep everyone informed when we have something to pass on to you.
Sorry for the inconvenience but know that we are working to get the problem resolved.

I take that back. It's slowed right down again.

I am experiencing much better website performance today. Thanks to all that took care of the issue.

Howdy All;
Tend to agree with Festus2's assessment. Wherein if everything and every
other site appear to function with their "normal" operating speed then there
is only one item clogged. No need to do an extra clean-up and de-frag
unless you feel it's time to do anyway. I generally do mine once a month
and take into the shop for a complete clean-up and clean-out of entire
machine once a year... that's just me... YMMV.

It's still very slow but I really appreciate the efforts to get it corrected. I know how difficult it can be to identify an issue like this and get it fixed. Thanks!

I am still trying to work with GoDaddy trying to get them to understand that they are having an issue and don't realize it. It's like I speak a different language at this point and that have no clue. I even offered to have one of my server guys here at work give them some help.

Courtland, Howdy;
Thanks for staying on them, earlier this evening I got a screen, that
Stated "Database Error" tried again a few moments ago, and so far ...
it appears that normal speed as been returned.
Again, thanks for keeping your boot on their necks.

Just wanted to update;
The site is still extremely slow. Clicked on this thread, started a skillet of bacon, cooked it, made BLT with fries and it just came up Just kidding. It took 30 seconds for this thread to load and 25 for this topic.....WAY too long....IMO

Admin. & Mods. Howdy;
Have to agree with sourdough, appears that my prior exuberance was
premature ... apparently we are still saddled up and riding the Sloth and
the apparent return must have been a downhill run of sorts.

hankaye , sourdough and others -
There has been the "occasional" glimmer of hope that the site had recovered from whatever is ailing it and was back to normal. At times, it seems to be ok but, by-in-large, its behavior is indeed "sloth-like".
I'll touch bases with Courtland and let him know that there is still trouble in River City.
In the meantime, I'd suggest you read Chapter 3 of "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff"......

Thanks for reaching out to Courtland. I haven't commented til now, but it does seem like every time I come to this site its like rolling the dice, but I never seem to get 7 more than once

Chapter 3...."Don't Sweat the Small Stuff"??
I've been looking that over. You wouldn't be referring to the part that says "don't worry about the gnat on your nose when a gator's got you by the ......"toes" ......would you??

I have been a frequent flyer at this site for at least 5 years. I have enjoyed viewing and chiming in wwhen I have a moment, but for the past couple months I will say I have avoided it due to the length of time needed for pages to load.
I miss being here but simply don't have the time and patience to wait, wait and wait.
Hopefully something will be done or I'm sure in time this forum will disappear. Is it a money issue? I would be willing to contribute some of my hard earned scratch. Not much but just throwing that out there. There aren't a lot of ads or pop ups here and that is why I have enjoyed it. Let's face it, advertising and user data collection is what funds sites like this, right?

I agree. Has become unusable.
Not ~literally~ unusable.... but slow beyond my level of impatience. I'm not very patient

I am looking into this again, unfortunately godaddy tells me I am on an old server and need to upgrade to fix the issues. They want to up-sell me on a service rather than fix the damn issue.

Reading all the comments and I have to chime in and say that I've never had a problem with the speed be it skimming through the posts or loading pics.
I check the site about 3 times a day and no problems at all. Maybe it has something to do with being in Canada and being 300 ft away from my WIFI connection
