I would say not, as they have different plugs.

Camp at 50 amp service, surge protector plugs into the pedestal, 50 amp to 30 amp adapter plugs into the protector and his 30 amp plug goes into the adapter....be sure to read the lights on the protector.

30 amp service is much more common at sites...with no 50a service. What does he do then?. Recommend Progressive Industries portable 30a protector. Their support is top notch.

Don't go without protection. I had the unit save 2 rigs...Cougar..30 amp Progressive Industries protector saved the rig when there was a short and resultinf fire at pedestal at Myrtle Beach State Park and my brand new Montana was saved by the hardwired PI 50 amp protector where there was a bad ground in the CG. Latter would have fried everything and could have been very dangerous.

My trailer is 50 amp. I use my 50 amp surge guard everywhere I go. If I have to use 30 amp I use my 30 amp adapter and my surge guard looks at the various legs just fine. Don't ever go anywhere without one IMO.
