Cougar 32RLI Kitchen Faucet Check Valve?

This appears to be a check valve. The hose inside the kitchen faucet from the spray nozzle separated from the bottom of the faucet base where it screws into the faucet base. This check valve is the same diameter as the fitting that screws into the faucet base. I suspect the check valve fell out when the fitting separated. Functionally, it can only be placed in one direction for water to flow. However, the open end of the check valve appears to fit on the end of the fitting such that water flow would be relatively restricted. I am curious if another piece may have fallen out and has not yet been discovered.
