New cable tv receptacle

I'm tired of running my satellite cable through my slide seals and want to install a new exterior cable receptacle on the outside.

I have a great location to do it. My question is what should I be worried about with drilling a hole on the outside of my unit? After looking around online, it looks like these units don't come with screws, or any sealant.

Is there enough "meat" to screw into the side of the unit?

What screws should I use? How do I seal it so it doesn't leak? Thanks for the help!

You don't have a convenience center? If you don't, something like this would work. I've seen them in white and black. Just make sure to use RG6 coax. If your sides are filon, wood screws will hold. Be sure to use butyl tape behind the plate.

Not a convenience center per say, but I do have 2 exterior cable jacks. One is for park cable in, the other is cable tv out (a place I can mount tv outside if I want). These are for cable, not satellite. Reading other threads, I know that this connection won't work for satellite, which is why I am currently running a 50' cable out of one of my slides. One end plugs to satellite dish, the other end into the receiver.

I am looking for a cleaner look, and wanted to mount one of those on the exterior of my RV, adjacent to where the tv is located. I was just looking to see if anyone has done this, although it does seem rather simple.

So I got done with the install. Took about an hour. Used this part: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also the screws I used were #8 x 1" sheet metal screws. I took a few out of other external fixtures and those are the one Keystone used.

I wanted to go right above my water connections, but there wasn't enough room in the water pump space to do it. So I went to the left, then ran into the issue of the furnace exhaust. Didn't want any issues there, so I went even farther left. I'm really pleased with the results. Now I don't have to run my sat cable though the slide seal anymore!!

You dont need to have an external website host your uploaded pics. You can upload, attach, and insert them directly with the "paperclip" icon above the dialog box that you type in. After you upload them and close the dialog box, click on the little "down" arrow to the right of that same icon. It will prompt you to insert all or insert one at a time. Easy peezy lemon squeezy.

Before pictures. The water connections are all to the left of my TV, behind an access panel. I thought this would be a good spot to mount the box, and run the cable behind.

There wasn't enough room right next to the water connections. I had to move it to the left of all that. Then I was worried about the furnace exhaust, so I moved it even further left.

I used a 1/2" drill bit for the main hole. Some small bit for the screw holes. Put silicone in all the holes to seal it up good. Put some loctite on the connection so it would never come loose. Made damn sure what was behind it before I started drilling.

The kit came with a gasket, which worked really well. However, I need to go around the edge of the box with clear silicone (I only had white!) for peace of mind.

After looking at that last picture, I'm not too happy with the way the dish receiver looks. I think I will turn it clockwise 90 degrees, and slide it up, then velcro to wall. It should make the receiver almost invisible, and still work great.

Again, I'm happy with the way it turned out!
