Kudos B&W Trailer Hitch Company

Just wanted to share my recent experience with B&W. I have had a B&W Companion fifth wheel hitch for the last 2 seasons. The other day I found a broken bolt in the bed of my truck. I found that it was from my hitch. There is a gas shock that mounts to the saddle of the hitch and 1 of the mounting points broke. So my initial thought was to go on their website to see if I can find part number and order one. However while on their website I click on the "limited lifetime warranty" link. It listed a phone to call if you had any issues. Gave the number a call, told them what was going on and they asked for my name and address and told me they send 1 out to me. A couple of days later I received the part with detailed instructions on how to install. WOW!!! A company that understand what a warranty is and excellent customer service to support it. Great job B&W!

Frequently we come to the forums to complain and get things off our chest, so I'd thought it was needed to share this as well. They certainly made me a customer for life as well as a waling talking advertiser.

I had the same great service. A couple years ago one of the gas shocks was leaking oil so I gave that number a call with the same results, both new shocks at my door in a couple days.
IMHO as far as 5th wheel hitches, B&W is #1! I've had a couple other brands that both were a PITA to get disconnected if you weren't straight & near perfectly level.

My save experience as well, for the same part, due to a leak. The fun part is actually replacing it. That giant pivot bolt is NOT fun to deal with. Good luck.

I have had the B&W Companion hitch for years, I didn't know there was a shock on the hitch. Where is it located.

My BW Companion hitch with the slide was not working properly. Less than 1 year old but basically would not slide without significant pull but the TV. Called and talked to the warranty manager. Made a video with sound and as soon as he heard it sent a new slide section. New one works great.
Great folks and the hitch is recommended by me

It's under the hitch plate on the saddle. If I recall... on the front passenger side, you can definitely see it. The shock body is only about 5" long.

They maintain level side to side for the hitch plate with large wire spring to hold it level fire & aft.

I need to replace my 5th wheel hitch. I am considering a Pullrite 18k superglide or B&W 18K slider. Any recommendations. The Pullrite is more expensive.

My Reese hitch slider went from lock to unlock when I made a hard stop. I do not trust it any more.

I don't have any experience with sliders other than eating them on occasion. LOL. I'M sure someone on here will share their knowledge. I can say with the design of the B&W I feel confident that once I'm hitched up it's not going to release on its own.Have a Merry Christmas!

I am really satisfied with the one we have that drops into the puck system on our 2017 Ram 3500. It is a heavy hitch, but we have a "cherry-picker" hoist modified to pick it up for installing it or taking it out when home, and we can do it in about 10 minutes. Love it!

1st was a Reese slider — cheap is the only good thing. Then an Andersen Ultimate. One day I took both to the county recycle dump. I bought a B&W slider as I had a short bed. Only needed it 3 times. Now I have a long bed dually and put that hitch in the new truck. No longer need a slider but the B & W slider is a fantastic hitch and I’m keeping it.

Good morning CaptnJohn.
Thank for your opinion. I bought the B&W slider. Going to take the Reese to the metal recycler. Hope you have a great new year!

Great choice. The hitch is made well in the US with US made steel.
Wishing you a great 2020, wish many safe travels

I didn't get the slider on my B&W hitch but the first one I had was one so far so good.

I had a Hi-jacker for many years. It started to rust, so I took it all apart and sanded it and down, primered it and painted it. I called Hi-jacket in Victoria, BC and ask about buying a new set of decals for it, model info and weight rating etc. They said no problem, what is your address we will just send you a set - free. I concluded they did not want a hitch in the field without the weight rating sticker on it. I was a happy camper.

Heavy? I that it came apart into two sections to make it manageable?

The B&W does easily separate by pulling two pins but the base is still a heavy piece. I love mine and it is rock solid!
