Speaking of the ridiculous prices we see, my 2011, as equipped listed for $52k and change but it was purchased on a government contract for $34k. That should give you some idea of the markup. You know Ford didn’t lose money on the sale. Just sayin.....

I would like to see a comparison of dyno pulls for the big 3 gas engines.

I know TFL will get around to an Ike pull with them at some point, but I'm curious to compare side by side torque curves.

Really wouldn't matter! The losers would claim the results were skewed in the winners favor. Look a the dumping cement block commercial. They are all in competition to one up each other every year on hp/torque + bling.
Best to pick the one you want/like & don't worry about the others! They all can & will get the job done if you chose the appropriate size, which is the biggest problem with all brands claiming they can haul much more than they actually should.

I think anyone that can predict the economy with any degree of success would be setting on a private island somewhere and not at all concerned with the cost of a new truck.

Don't worry about fuel efficiency of the new 7.3L! Ford perfect gas engine fuel efficiency with the 7.5L as in my old F250. Even though the 460 CID pig had only 130 hp and 150 ft/lbs of torque, having a huge engine gave me peace of mind as I pumped regular unleaded into it CONTINUALLY! I wish I had bought the fuel efficient Chevy 8.1L. Probably would have seen 30 mpg with that monster. All Ford Super Duty trucks should be renamed Super Thirsty. You want in the big boy game, you pay for the fuel.

Here's my original window sticker for my 2002 F250, sorry it's a little ragged, it is 17 years old. Still running like a champ but your not gonna find these prices new anymore...

The old 454 GM engines weren't quite as thirsty, with them you stopped to check the gas & fill it up with oil, they about 500 miles per quart. On either the Ford or GM big blocks 8 mpg was about average, towing about 6.

Did you actually pay $38K for it?
The big 3 like to haggle, both trucks I got up and left salesman's office after thanking him for his time. Both times they followed me to the door an asked if I could wait a minute to see if his manager had a change of heart.

Nope, it was a leftover that the sales manager drove around for a month or so and put about 1000 miles on it. I ended up paying $27K out the door.

The 7.3L turbo has had the value hold decently here in S. TX. The 6.0L needs to be in a real fancy equipped model with real low mileage to be anywhere close. The 6.4L... well, they are not very highly sought after for some reason. 6.7L is still too expensive for my blood and I would have to figure out what DEF means bwhahahaha (press the delete key on the DEF I expect)

Paid about $70 for my 2018 DRW Lariat with many options (10k discount) a year ago.
Has 450/945, which pulls like a freight train, or a DRW with nearly a grand tq!
Fyi, the 2019 Ford f350 KR with every option box checked when ordering just breaks 100... First time for one to break that mark, besides the commercial type rigs.

6.4 are grenades ready to explode. They cannot handle the emissions equipment put on them for very long.

Siemens fuel pump implodes with smallest amount of rust ($10k)

Number 8 piston gets hot and burns a hole in the top.

Front plate cavitates and makes bubbles that lead to cooling system failure

Oil cooler is same as 6.0, so same clogging as Ford used same gold coolant.

Valve rocker arms have ends on them that come off and get eaten in the heads or pistons.

There are fixes for most of all of the above. The engine is a beast when deleted and tuned. But hot tunes melt pistons. I loved mine and miss it dearly. But the 6.7 is very smooth and quiet.

I read a couple places about a new big block Chevy truck gas engine. Don't remember if it was based on the 502 or what.
Y'all don't worry about running out of oil anytime soon. The Permian Basin in west Texas is drowning in oil. Just now getting pipelines built out to get it to the Gulf coast refineries.

It's more like we're drowning in sand trucks, oil transports, oil servicing trucks, water trucks and "oil stuff" in general. Heck, they're making parking lots into RV parks. No more "quiet" days, slow traffic etc. It even takes me 5 minutes to wait for a place to enter the highway from our storage facility; used to you wouldn't see a vehicle for 15 minutes.

Sorry; back to our regular "programming/thread".

Just ordered lariat f350 gas with 7.3 gas engine. Pretty well loaded at a cost of $60,000. Only $9000 more if you want a diesel for a diesel.

Kind of grumpy about all that elevated tax base that makes sure your roads are smooth as glass! Don't you know when you got it good up there in the north? Don't want any more fracking complaining...

It's a balancing act now. The Gassers put out pretty darn goo dnumbers, and more importantly they are slowly lowering the RPM that torque comes on.
But realistically They are making good decisions. With the Ram 6.4 Hemi in the HD trucks, the biggest drawback was the 6 speeed tranny, Overly large Gap between 1st and 2nd, and just generally poor internal gearing. I know mine would hit 2nd gear in the interstate with 10K behind it on hills, but it would run around 65-70 in 2nd gear. There is Absolutely no reason for an HD truck to be geared that high in the tranny.
SO now they have an 8 speed in the HD trucks and it sounds like it's a Hit! Ford and GM partnered and are offering a 10 speed, although for GM the 10 speed is only in the diesel at this time, I'm sure it will make it into the gasser at some point in the near future. Thats where it's at. They can make smaller hP and TQ numbers, meaning a more reliable long term engine and better fuel economy and make up the difference with a good tranny and match it to a good rear diff ratio.. All golden.
