Exclamation Heading South

DW and I are going to head to a warmer climate the end of the month. indoor/outdoor thermometer reads -18 outside as I type this. We plan on staying in a full hookup resort in AZ for the month of February and take our time on the way back to Minnesota visiting scenic sites as we return. This is our first big trip and am wondering what are the "must haves" to pack along. Should I bring the generator in the event we stay at a primitive site? What else? Air compressor? Pretty soon I will require a support van/truck to follow and carry all the extras. I don't want to be unprepared but I can see myself over packing to prepare for any issue. Thanks for the input.

We've fulltimed for 10 years & have found, at least once you arrive, that if you don't have something someone in the park will & be more than happy to help.
Just curious, where in Arizona, we've sintered wintered between Tucson & Phoenix for several seasons.

going to Tucson. Have to stay at Lazydays KOA since Rincon required a two month commitment and we couldn't stay that long.

I always carry a basic tool set (wrenches, sockets, hammer, screwdrivers, allen wrenches, etc), a compact air compressor, torque wrench, lug wrench, jack, wood blocks, chocks, hoses, 30 amp extension cord, etc. We carry one 2000 watt generator with us on most trips. No need for two that early in the year, and even though you may not use it, if the power goes out in the campground, you can recharge batteries, etc.

For us, it's more important to have the recreational equipment (fishing rods, tackle, spare line, etc) than it is to have tools. After all, tools mean work, rec stuff means relaxing......

Enjoy your trip, no matter what you forget, remember that there's a WalMart in almost every town and a Harbor Freight in most towns over 70,000 people, so you're never more than 15 miles from a ready source of things forgotten !!!!!

Air compressors. I never leave home without them. A 12V Viair and a 120v unit from Lowes's? if I recall (weird name, can't recall, 1st trip and works good - on recommendation from John); starts with an F if I recall. I always carried a PC pancake but the new one is better I believe.

Labman, I concur with what has been said so far. A quality air compressor is a must, a generator a maybe. DW and I would not own an RV anymore without an onboard genny, but we've been at this for many years. And don't rule out a borrowed little 750 watt generator if you are trying to keep the weight down. The 2000 watt Honda is my favorite, but I gave ours to my son so I'm back to the 4000 watt or the little 750 if I put one in the truck. I also keep the little infrared thermometer handy in the back seat and check all tires at every stop. WAY more accurate then our TPMS. About $15 at John's favorite store......Harbor Freight.

All the above is good info. I would add to be sure you have what you need to change a tire. Check your spare tire condition and pressure. Have some way to jack up the axle, either a TrailerAid+ or a jack.

Add a quality air gauge and a pair of coveralls.

Be sure to try the barbeque at the on site restaurant. We recently spent 6 days at Lazy Days - great park.
