Fridge help

Leaving for our first trip of the year tomorrow and I can't get the fridge to start. It's an Atwood HE-0601 helium fridge. I am plugged in at home and battery has a full charge. When I turn it on the check, auto, gas and ac lights come on but not the dc light and it will not start. The camper is level and when I put it away for the winter it worked fine. It's only three years old and has always started. I've tried searching the site but didn't find anything, any help would be appreciated.

Typically DC is needed. Do other things work on DC? I would check the battery for proper voltage and the 12vdc fuse for the fridge.

Yes 12 volt works on the rest of the camper and I replaced the fuse even though it still looked good. Battery has a full charge and even tried switching batteries. Thanks for the reply

check page 9 of your fridge manual for troubleshooting. http://www.manualsdir.com/manuals/ge...0c48349&open=1 It states most likely a dc fuse open, open thermal switch or extended use in extreme off level condition. Hope this helps, Hank

I have the exact same problem today. Same model, same symptoms. Same everything. Same age. Can't help you. Can't help myself.

Are you 110 outlets working everywhere? Just a thought, check the breakers and the gfi plugs.

Tomorrow I'm going to check for a blown fuse on the board. There is a high likelihood that is the issue. There are two 3 amp and one 20 amp fuses on the board. Looks like I have to remove part of the flu, then remove a black box on the rear (with a sticker that warns me not to).

I had pretty much the same issue with my Attwood the first time dewinterizing a couple of years back. I mistakingly touched ground when installing the positive battery cable. The blown fuse I finaly located on the back side of the fridge under a black plastic cap that measured probably 2 1/2 inches by 4 inches located on the lower right hand side of the fridge. If memory serves there are 2 barrel type fuses in there.

I had the same problem and was able to find on a different forum that it was the heating element that went out. I ended up replacing myself instead of taking the trailer in for a warranty fix. See attached link, this might be your problem.

And here is the part I ordered. Atwood said as long as the refrigerator was in the 2 year warrant period, they would fix it free.

If you do this yourself, the part is a little hard to get too and takes some muscle to wiggle it out. I actually thought it was welded at first. Make sure you take out the fuses before replacing the part as they will blow if you don't even if you unhook all power.

O.P.'s problem isn't that it wont cool, it wont turn on. It's been a while since I've worked on an Atwood He refer. But a blown fuse on the control board is one possibility. A bad heating element would just cause the AC side not to work.

Thanks everyone and yes it was a blown fuse in the back of the fridge. I thought the only fuse would be in the converter box. That's again for all your help.
