Propane hissing noise

Should I hear a hissing noise near my propane tanks? I only hear it when propane is "running" such as when the furnace or hot water tank are running. If they aren't going I hear no noise.

Hoping this is normal...

I suspect that is just the noise from the regulator as the gas passes through it. If there is no strong propane smell, you're Ok.

No propane smell so sounds like it is normal as I suspected. Thanks.

You might try applying soapy water to all the hose connections to the regulator and around the regulator itself just to make sure there are no propane leaks.

I forgot to mention that another possible cause of a hissing sound is the tank bleeder valve that may have not been completely closed after the tank was last filled. A small piece of debris may have got caught in it preventing it from being closed properly. You can check this yourself by taking a screwdriver and turning the valve clockwise until it is fully closed.
