22 Montana dining table.

We have a 22 Montana fifth wheel. It has a dining table that attaches to the wall with an “L” shaped bracket that attaches to the wall. One day I noticed the table top was slanting downward. After further inspection I noticed the screws at the top were loose. I tried tightening them, but they were stripped. After checking further I found that there were no studs behind the wall and the screw were screwed into the 1/4” wallboard. I am at a loss as what to do to fix it.

You can try using a bamboo skewer, put it in the hole until it bottoms out then reinstall the screw just until snug.

Chuckster, have you seen these tables installed without backing in the wall? I know it's possible that something was missed in assembly but I can't imagine that that system would have been designed/engineered without wood or aluminum stud backing to carry that table. Just bouncing down the road will cause that mounting to fail.

If there is backing and the screw is just stripped then the bamboo might re-secure the attachment. I might be tempted to use an aggressive wall anchor to better engage the backing material.

Anyway, just thinking out loud.

Sadly enough yes I have, not just Keystone products. It may be that the table is an option, and the engineers are trying to stay in good graces with the bean cou nters.

What Montana do you have? Your profile says you have a Cougar.

Does your camper have the dinette with fixed benches and the table folds down to make a bed, or is this a self-standing table with chairs and the table is attached to the wall?
