Hunting Island SC

Trying to decide between Hunting Island State Park or Jekyll Island. I know Jekyll is still amazing but then so was Hunting Island. Cannot find updated pics of the campground. We have been there many times and are aware of the front half being destroyed but would like to see some updated photos of what it looks like now. Any info is appreciated.

Wish I could help - we will be staying at Jekyll Island next Jan after a week stay at Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park. Then on to a 2 month stay at Myrtle Beach Travel park.

They just reopened Feb 1 and the front rows are gone and may not be back the next two rows back are pretty beat up and the back looks good.

Don’t have pics, but went there today and, WOW! First two or three rows along the beach are gone, the bath house is still there but destroyed, hundreds of stumps and tons of debris there. The first two rows of camp sites inland of the store are in very rough shape, but most were full of campers. No shade, no palms, just a bare camp site. The rest of the campground appears to be in good shape and does not show much damage.
That’s the best I can tell you. If you want to know more, just ask. I can go back out there if I don’t have the answer. It’s only a 30 minute drive for me.
