Black Tank Gauge

We have a 2018 Cougar and the black take gauge worked at first then on our first trip this summer, our gauge is stuck on 2/3 full.
I have flushed the tank with the hose connector several times.
filled half full of just water drove home 8 hours to let it agitate on way home.
we have a dump at home flushed it few more times still does not work.
while filling tank with water it does get show full then I dump it and it drops down to 2/3. We always use the right TP paper for trailers,
I know you should not trust gauges on the black tank, but dang new trailer right out of the box.
Has any one found a way to clean the sensors?

John

Sensor cleaner and/or tissue digester. Fill tank until you see it coming up the pipe at the toilet, let it set for a day or two. Then drive “rough” for a few miles.

If that doesn’t work, you can replace the sensor.

Here we go

I would get the tissue digester too. Your issue is more likely a piece of paper hanging up.

I just had the same problem and I filled the tank up to the point of coming into the toilet. The second time I did it the gage began working correctly. I have the black flush but I used the type wand that connects to a hose it worked.

We clean ours with the old method of dish detergent crystals, a bag of ice and about 1/3 tank of water. Then go for a drive at least 20 miles. Then dump the lot and fresh flush at least 3 times till the water comes out clear.

Seems to work for us
YMMV

I don't know why they even bother to put sensors on the black tank. You learn how long your family takes to fill it up. We can make it 4 days with 3 people. Then I check with a flashlight.

After 2 RV's with faulty sensors on grey and black tanks, I installed Seelevel 2 tank monitors. Work great!
