I installed the s of adjusting brakes from etrailer about 5,000 miles ago. When you first install them, adjust like you used to to on cars with adjustable drum brakes. Tighten star wheel behind rubber plug until brakes are preventing heel from moving. Then back off the star nut until there is a slight drag when the wheel is spun. Work great, and one less maintenance item.
Of course, pull drums at least once a year, inspect brakes and bearings. Replace parts as necessary, re-pack wheel bearings and grease seals. You may have to back off the star nut in order to remove drums. Re-adjust brakes.
