Pass through door magnet sealant?

I'm replacing a magnet on my pass through door. I can't figure out what type of sealant they used on it. It looks like a semi dry paste, almost like plumbers putty, that doesn't harden. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Itís most likely butyl tape. If itís still soft and pliable, you can reuse it.
