2012 Bullet Waste Water Dump

Does anyone with a Bullet find that the waste water dump valves & the waste water termination cap are located too far under the trailer? When standing, bent over, beside the trailer at the dump station, I can't even see the valve handles or the cap. Let me tell you, it's kind of bad when you have to take a knee at the dump station, try to hang onto the side of the trailer with one hand, and lean on the ground with the other hand, and try and connect the waste pipe at the same time. Well, it's not quite that bad, but anyone with a Bullet knows what I'm talking about. I know all lite weight trailers are built low to the ground and they have to keep the waste pipe high enough so it won't hit the ground, but they should have extended the dump valves and waste pipe to the side of the trailer.
Well looks like I have another project.

I had the same problem with my 31BHPR. I bought the extension handles for about 11.99 I think at a local RV place. Big difference.

I've used mine only once, and notice what you're talking about. For now, I'll let it ride. Good to know I'm not nuts!

My 2013 is noticeably taller than the 2012 models it was parked next to at the dealers lot. I didn't pay too much attention at the time. I did notice that the waste station stuff was sort of tucked back under the trailer more than others I have had. I'm getting old and I'm stiff from arthritis so for years I have carried an old boat cushion for when I have to get down at the side of the camper. I can get both knees on it and it will hose off easily. That makes it easier to do what you gotta do. Now, getting back up is a different story.

I hear ya, being a retired floor cover, I have arthritis in both knees. They want to replace both of them but said I should wait till I'm well into my 70's, that way I'll only need to replace them once, because replacements only last about 10 years.

To extend the waste pipe 10-12 inches would bring it too close to the ground so I tried a 45 degree elbow then extend the pipe, but the 45 went up too far, would leave a puddle in the bottom of the elbow, so I went with 22 1/2 degree elbows.
I ordered two 22 1/2 degree elbows, two couplings and a small piece of 3" ABS pipe.

I also picked up three of these extension handles at a RV Dealer next to me.

My trailer has two gray tanks, so I'll have to extend two waste pipes amid three handles.

I do have one question. Is PVC cement the same as ABS cement? I have lots of PVC cement and cleaner.

No! It is different and uses a different solvent. They do make make a glue that will bond both or the two together.

A quick Google search on the subject yields a lot of discussion in home building and repair forums. Best I can tell, using PVC cement on ABS may not give you a properly bonded joint.

My suggestion is to buy the smallest can of Oatey ABS cement you can find in the plumbing department of your favorite store and just do it right.

I would be in the same boat as I have lots of PVS supplies here. But, luckily the Cougar's ABS drain plumbing is pretty well laid out and accessible. The kitchen gray tank dump valve handle is a little awkward though. I am thinking about getting one of the Valterra extension cable kits and relocating the handle up into the basement with the other gray and black tank handles.

This was a two bevarage job, but well worth the time. I let some water out of the two gray tanks and they drain fast. Best part no more getting down on my knee's at the dump station.

Very nicely done! I am glad to see that you didn't have to throw out any of the existing piping or fittings. It extended just right with only the addition of the 22.5 degree ell, coupling and a foot or so of pipe. Bravo!

One more thing I forgot to add, with the trailer level, front to back, side to side. The very end of the waste pipe was 11 inches above the ground before I started and after it was done, it is 12 inches. Last week while dry camping it was a little tight conecting the blue pot, the extra inch will be helpful next time I use it.

Hey Steve,

I too find the galley tank dump valve in an awkward position (Cougar 276RLS), and would like to put an extension on it. Did you have any luck putting one of these Valterra's on? Or has anybody put an extension on as the handle is under the slideout up against the leaf spring.

Just noticed this thread and have like issues with my Bullet. Nicely done modification.

But what happened to the dump valve handle? It is in your 'before' picture but absent in the 'after' pics on your forward dump location. Getting the pipe reachable is one issue but getting the handles more accessible is the second half of the puzzle. Could one put a flexible handle extension on the current valves or would you have to replace the valves also?
