Thumbs up Hi from Fort Worth

Joined to pick your brains and get the low down on Keystones.
Looking at picking up a new 24RBS soon.
TV is a 2011 F250 6.7 Diesel 4x4 (overkill but I like it that way)

Welcome and congrats on your new coach. The best part of having too much TV and a condition of "over kill" is the ability to move up or down on weights with future RVs with no worries. Upgrading a TV can get really expensive in no time, especially after white knuckle pulling.

Enjoy the new rig and safe travels.

Overall we are very satisfied with Keystone. I am in the middle of an issue about the Lippert levelling system. If you are not a fulltimer our issue will not be one for you. We are just south of you in Keene for now. Good luck and congratulations on getting a new RV.

Welcome, this forum will cost you lots of money with ideas and mods to do on your camper. What dealer are you using? We got ours at Holiday World in Mesquite. They’ve been great so far.

Thanks! Our plan is to become full-time RV'ers here in the next 6 months! We can't wait. We've been in the research phase for nearly a year, kicking tires and figuring out what we like.

We are apparently hard to please, and not fans of 90% of what we see in the RV world. We have no children and will be traveling alone so all the bunkhouse models are pointless, and most RV's unfortunately look like they were designed by color-blind Grandmas. I'm also not really interested in something that is "half-ton towable" I'd actually prefer a trailer to be heavy and solid, but the 24RBS just happens to have one of the very few layouts we like. We were originally thinking of buying a Northwood because we like how heavy and solid and well insulated they are. We still might, but like I said we're in the process of researching these Keystones so we'll see.

As far as looking at Keystones go, we've only been to the HW down South of us, near Alvarado, but they're kinda pushy, I didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling the 2 times we've visited. We like to look around without a sales person hounding us. We much prefer the laid back dealerships like "Motor Home Specialist" on I-35. We've mostly been going there on weekends when we can get away, along with doing research online. We've also been to Vogt on 121 in Fort Worth a few times, that's where we were first introduced to the Airstream lineup. We love those, but I'm a big guy and just can't fit in them that well. I know 5th wheels are tall but I don't want to pull anything that big. We want to be able to boondock and I don't want to be dragging a behemoth around behind me. We are specifically looking at trailers less than 29 feet (25 ideally) so we can fit into pretty much any National Park, but we are planning on mostly doing BLM's and off the beaten path spots, hence the 4x4 diesel.

We've also spent quite a bit of time researching Solar setups and are planning to mod our RV with a descent Solar Package, ideally something around 900-1200w. on roof with around 600aH bank of Lithiums.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes!

Howdy from south Texas (in Victoria for now). My wife and I just bought a 24RBS from Holiday World in Alvarado this week and are transitioning into living in it full time. Several years ago we full timed in a 2011 Jayco Jay Flight 22FB and really enjoyed it and the mobility for our jobs (we've been doing the apartment thing for a while now but that's money down the drain). We have looked for over a year now at floor plans and considered a gigantic bunk house 5th wheel that would make sense for a possible growing family on the road but we also wanted something that's easy to tow and has tons of storage. We honestly felt like you do... most TT floor plans out there don't make sense for anything but weekend adventures with their awkward layouts. We finally settled on the 24RBS (that front wardrobe area is incredible!) since this is a temporary living situation and this way we have a toy to enjoy later on down the road. We're loving this thing so far!

Anyways, I've been lurking on this forum for a few weeks now but your post prompted me to join in on the conversation and give you some brief input. We were not happy with our purchase from Holiday World... plain & simple. We got the RV we wanted at the price we wanted but the overall experience left us pretty sour and wondering if we should have done business elsewhere. Our purchase after doing SO MUCH searching should have been more monumental but it wasn't and we're pretty upset about that. We've bought two RVs from other dealers (Crestview in Selma and Ancira in Boerne) and each transaction was flawless but this one at Holiday World felt shady and unprofessional. I will leave my comment at that publicly but if you would like more information before you proceed please feel free to PM me and I can provide you more details as to why we feel this way.

Best of luck in your decision! If you decide the 24RBS is right for you I think you will be happy with it!

Michael

We bought ours at Holiday World Dallas and thought the transaction went really well-especially after looking at Camping World, a horrible experience.

We were going to look at camping world and explorer USA but the wife found the camper she wanted at our first stop and she didn’t want to go any place else, I was happy with Holiday World.

Hey Mike... We ended up with a Grand Design 220RK instead. Just bought it last week. It has much more storage and higher ceilings than the Keystone but still about the same length. Decided on this route after seeing all the contraptions necessary to reliably pull a bumper pull travel trailer, the fifth wheel connects and disconnects much much faster and easier and is a much more stable platform. But the main reason we bought this was the floor plan is very unique and it's still only 27' not the huge behemoth most fifth wheels are.
It also has much larger tanks which will come in handy since we plan on boon docking a lot!
Take care! Here's a link to it if you want to see it.
