Yes, the slats are all aluminum and hinged together. So there's obviously no cutting through the soft material on top, at least not with a box cutter.

As for the Pullrite; it's a big heavy SOB, but is totally necessary for my 5'er. I have a short box and wouldn't be able to clear my cap without it. The auto sliding works as it's supposed to, just have to keep the unit lubed as described in the instructions.

Thanks xcntrk. I ended up building an A frame to support a chain fall so I could lift the beast into the truck. I am going to test it this weekend to see if I can make 90 deg. Thanks again for your feedback.

I do the same with an electric hoist I have suspended in the rafters to lift it out. But mostly during the summer camping months I just leave it back there. Here's a pic of the hitch fully skid rearward at almost a 90 degree. I got nervous and stopped at this point, although you can see it can go the full 90.

I have a retrax pro on mine. I have always been a fan of hard tonneau covers having had one stabbed thru before. I routinely haul stuff I want safe. My parents have a Roll N Lock...I personally like it as its cooler to the touch on a hot day but it requires opening before the tailgate can open and only has 4 locking slots where as my retrax pro can lock wherever you stop it and I can open tailgate with tonneau locked...My approach is first figure out hard or soft tonneau and then take it from there..Good Luck.

Hey XCNTRK,

Based on the 90 degree photo, I'd be real careful backing into a "woop-de-doo" or uneven site, etc....

That fiberglass ain't cheap!

Good luck,

Bakflip G2 for me. Keeps everything secure, mostly weather proof. Downside is I can't see the hitch when it is folded.

Do you mean with making contact with the bed cover?

Yes, it's pushed on it a couple times. That cover roll will give a bit if they do make contact, but yes I hear ya!

Was by the truck and thinking about it so i shot a picture of where it hit.

I have a bakflip G2 on a 6.5 foot bed. Im able to fold it two times and it still clears . I can also leave my hitch in with the cover closed.

Now for a Tonneau cover, any recomendations? Thinking Bakflip G2, will it work with the 5th wheel hooked up or would I have to remove it? What about a hard cover roll up?
Thanks in advance.
Harry
I went with the Truxcedo LoProfile one. Folds easily and covers the hitch when not towing. Comes in various colors as well. I like Gray on white.

Re: Tonneau cover and 5th wheel

I have the hard cover rollback and love it. With that said there are some things to be aware of with them. Mine does rattle some and you can hear it if you have the pass through window open. If you live in a winter climate and wash the truck, the roll up will freeze in that position. I would always roll it back and forth a few time to get the as much water out of it right after I washed it and that helped alot. But I really do like mine for the feeling that everythink I put back is hard covered and can be locked.
