Question Bullet Suspension Upgrade

Happy Monday friends.

I would like to upgrade the equalizer on my 2016 Bullet 248RKS travel trailer. I am curious if anyone has done it and what you used or would recommend.

Does your trailer have the wide spaced axles? If so, what you use will be somewhat different than the "closer spaced axles"...

Before I decided to embark on a concerted effort to replace my current trailer, I had done a lot of research into this and settled on the MorRyde CRE3000. It is about $350 for a pair, but I was going to add a full wet-bolt and bushing kit at the same time since it was already going to be apart.

Did you actually do the upgrade? If so was it effective.

I appreciate the support.

No, I decided not to because we are actively working on a plan to replace our camper. My wife said “leave it to the next owner”. For what it’s worth, many models now come from the factory with the CRE3000 system as an upgraded standard feature, including the model we are looking at.

There is a Morryde "qualifier document" online that you will want to review and "fill out" to see if the CRE3000 system will even work for your suspension system.

You can download it here: https://www.morryde.com/wp-content/u...-Qualifier.pdf

Pay careful attention to the requirement for the length of the spring hanger. The way the CRE3000 works is by using rubber and equalizer movement in a slotted cavity to help smooth the suspension. Overslung (springs on top) vs underslung (springs beneath the axle beam) have a MAJOR IMPACT on whether the CRE3000 has enough vertical space to properly function. Without adequate spring hanger length, putting the system on your suspension would negate any benefit and may even make the suspension ride harder than your current steel equalizers.

So, do the worksheet if you're considering the CRE3000. If your suspension doesn't meet the requirements, then I wouldn't "waste the money"...

No matter which "upgrade equalizer" you decide to install, as posted above, while you have the system apart, install a wet bolt kit with greaseable bolts and bronze bushings. You'll see, feel and hear so much improvement in suspension squeaks, creaks and groans that you'll wonder why they aren't OEM installations on every RV. Then, when you see what happens with the plastic shims and spring hanger wear, it'll scare you into the heavier duty wet bolts, even if you don't change out your equalizers.....

Any questions, just post them and someone will have an answer for you.

This makes me nervous. (note the prominent "CHINA" in the middle of the equalizer)

https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Lea...71-652-00.html

Seems like something I could use? Not sure about the spacing though for a 202QBWE? It does look like the measurements on this part will work but I don't really want to mess with suspension components until I can be sure.

Any advice would be most appreciated!

In the for what its worth department, I installed a MorRyde CRE 3000 system complete with wet bolts and heavy duty shackles on our 2021 25 RDS a week or so ago after aprox 18,000 miles. The only original component that was truly worn out were the plastic bushings. However, the comparison between the CRE 3000 materials and the OEM materials are night and day, with the MorRyde materials being far superior.

I've ran a lot of miles on a standard equalizer like you picture (don't know if they were stamped "China" in big letters) and never thought a lot about it....until. The first trailer I bought with the Mor Ryde CRE 3000 suspension was an eye opener for me, it was SO much smoother. In the link below (just used your for the Dexter equalizer and did a search for the MorRyde components on etrailer) I've pulled up some MorRyde options to compare. I can vouch for the MorRyde system and the operation/build of their components. When you install those heavy duty shackles wet bolts etc. might look into bracing those spring hangers. That's not a huge trailer but 6500lbs. twisting that thin metal can cause a problem.
