Cleaning up wiring....or going to far

I’m picking up some batteries for the trailer (thanks to an awesome member for the batteries!) I’m getting an isolator for the second bank that will take care of the refer.

I was wondering if I could/should switch out the auto breakers in the side for some manual breakers that could be used as disconnects and a buss bar for the wiring?

Maybe this is overkill? Thoughts, suggestions?

I did think their dinky "bus" with a jumper wire to another "bus" was extremely lazy and not ideal building. They also will stack connections on a single bolt making it harder to isolate a circuit for testing/work.I say go for it

Just my thought, if the circuit breaker(s) aren’t easily accessible, I would leave the auto reset alone.

They are real easy to get to. In the side compartment with batteries and hydro pumps.

Both my batteries are in a single container in the front storage. What is the battery in your side container hooked to? Is your backup camera installed yet?

I don’t have a back up camera for trailer? Haven’t thought much about it.

The dealer put 2 low AH (100 which is 50) in the side compartment. The front container I thought had batteries to run the Res refer, but it was empty. To the two in the side run everything in the trailer

Had a mess like that. Added a buss bar and individual auto breakers on each ( or most) lines.

Yeah, I’m just not at that level for sure! I was proud of myself when I figured out ohms.

I’m going to grab a few breakers a buses and reconfigure.

Thanks boys. Here's how it looks with the cover on. Real time power consumption in amps and watts, hour meter and charge voltage.

Looking over my set up, while I’d like to update to a straight inverter, time and funds dictate I look a little harder

The fridge is separated with it own batteries and inverter at this time, I’ll keep it that way. Per Chuck I bought band isolator for the two “banks”

Also picked up a progressive EMS.

Anyway, question is, I do not have an owners manual for the converter, so I need to pull the panel off and see what model it is. I’m thinking WFCO. Are these typically 3 stage chargers now? Or still single? If it’s not, I’ll upgrade.

I wish I could have a charger like my boat. It hooks to each battery and gives it what it needs. Even when 2 are in series (24v)

Justin,

My guess is that you've got a WFCO 9900 series power center. Whether it's a 60 amp DC system or a 90 amp DC system is anybody's guess. You can access the WFCO 9900 information here: https://wfcoelectronics.com/product-...rs-assemblies/

The basic system, how it works, features, theory of operation/charging, etc are all included on the site. Be sure to read the FAQ section, much of the "hey, how about if this happens" kind of questions are answered in "plain, easily understood terms" in the FAQ (the owner's manuals leave too much to interpretation)....

Even if you decide to change to a different brand, the basic concepts of how the power centers work is pretty much the same through all the brands, although there are some "hey buy mine, it's better" kind of claims between manufacturers. It's the same with power centers as it is with trucks. You know, all the "best in class" and "most powerful engine under 8800 pound" claims that bolster advertising, but when you get down to the "nuts and bolts" they're pretty much the same with different headlights and radios....

Keystone seems to like to put the 55amp unit in everything. Check your trailer brochure, they probably will mention a 55 amp converter.

Any chance you can post a schematic of your battery and isolator wiring? I hate to reinvent the wheel if I decide to do something similar. TIA.

Yeah my panel doesn’t look like that. I’m assuming the converter is in another place as it isn’t under the panel

The panel shown will have a separate converter behind it. There is an outlet molded into the back of the breaker panel for the converter to plug into.

Thanks, kinda thought there must be. The mid storage isn’t pass through and it has a panel to open up to the back under stairs areas.

Popped the hatch and unscrewed the paneling before off to work. Glad my Convertor is 3 stage (WF-9875)

I’ll leave is open as I’ll try and fit my EMS in with monitor next to the incommand touch screen and picked up a Victron Battery monitor as well that I will mount up there.

Bigggggggg gap next to Propane compartments for critters to wander in, so will be breaking out some spray foam while in here
