Ford Dually Guys.....Some Questions!
OK, now that I have a Ford Dually, I'm going to be asking questions about some of the things that are Dually related, specifically the Ford Dually. I'd like to draw on your experience, rather than trying to learn my lessons the hard way and not end up doing the "trial and error" method?
So, 1st question.......What you y'all do to fix the issue of having easy access to the inner tire valve stem? I'm sure that there are different setups for doing that, but in your experiences, what seems to be the easiest AND most reliable method to make the inner valve stem a lot more easy to get to.
Adding specifics to your answers, or even a link to the exact product would be wonderful....and appreciated. I need to do something, and obviously the sooner the better. I'm kind of a stickler for checking and keeping air pressures where they need to be! So, who's got what and how do you like it?

Congrats. I've had my about a year. I have extensions on mine. My air pump has adapters and extensions. They have worked for me on both camper and truck.

I just use my old tire gauge and chuck from my days of trucking.

Ford Dually Guys.....Some Questions!
Valve extenders here too. The guy I bought my truck from was a trucker and since he was retired he gave me a nice chuck with gauge.

I'm pretty picky about air pressure as well in all of my vehicles especially the A7 as it has very low profile tires.
With the truck I had extenders installed and it sure makes life easier for checking the inside psi.

OK, does anyone have specifics.....brands, style, links to the products. There are literally hundreds of them out there, and I'm looking for something that you guys have used and are happy with.

Vern,
How big are the holes in your wheels? Pacific Dualies has a PN 18100 with spring clips to fit 4.5" holes. I have the 18000 kit for steel wheels. The clips provided with that kit won't work on your aluminum wheels. They also have a kit to fit wheels with 2" holes. If you give them a call or shoot them an email they should be able to tell you the kit you need.

Tom, I haven't actually measured them, but today I was able to squeeze my hand through the hole on the outer on the passenger side and get to the inner valve stem cap......so I'm guessing 4.5". I check that part number out....
Yep, that looks about like the holes in mine.

OK, a little update for the valve extenders. I bought a set of the Wheel Masters 8009 kit and made my own brackets for holding the stainless braided hoses coming from the inner wheel to the outer wheel.
Now I've got a question that is Dually related (see, I told you I'd have questions).....So, the truck is a 2016 with the aluminum wheels and I'm wondering, will the spare tire that came with the truck fit on any wheel position???? Just the rear???? Just the front???? I know it's probably pretty silly for all you guys that have had Duallys for a while, but I just don't know so I thought I'd ask

Spare will fit any position: front, rear inside or rear outside.

You may also want to note(this is my first truck with the aluminum wheels) that tire rotation is no longer possible without actually removing the tires from the rims and moving them between wheels. My last dually had 6 steel wheels and stainless simulators so I always rotated at service intervals.

I had the same question. Mine are all steel and I suspect your inner wheels are too. That is what allows the to be universally used. Glad you were able to get your valve extensions mounted.

It would be nice if the manufactures would offer a spare with the same rim as provided so it could be included in the rotation process. Most people end up throwing away (a complete waste of energy and resources) the unused included spare after 8 or more years because its useful service life has expired. What a waste. Ordering a rim through parts is expensive and never thought of in the negotiations.
Question, On a dually with Aluminum rims is the inside rim the same as the outer?

All my steel rims are the same... but I don't rotate dually tires... it isn't really recommended.
I used the money from not buying all them fancy wheels and heated seats to pay for my 5th wheel.. [emoji12]

On the Ford, the inside dually is steel when the outside is aluminum. The size is interchangeable. the spare is steel and matches the inside dually wheels and may be used in any position, it just won't look as good.
If you rotated the aluminum wheel, you could only use it on the opposite side. If you turn the rim to mount it against a hub, you will be scratching the wheel. For that reason, the inside must always remain inside and the outside, the outside to retain the finish.
