STOLEN Keystone Passport 195RB

Minnesota license RU-41336.

The 2012 trailer was parked in our Minneapolis back yard. During the night of 5-21 and morning 5-22 person(s) unknown hooked it up and drove it away. Due to the limited space available to maneuver and drive out of the parking area 95% of the time I suspect the area was being watched.

On the night of the theft, cars that would usually park in the lot and significantly restrict trailer maneuvering were not present. This enabled the thieves to easily hook up and drive away using a neighboring property as an exit to the street.

Will be looking for another trailer. Anyone using a good alarm unit on their parked trailers? I've heard there are alarms available that will activate when motion is detected and if connected to a power source will activate the trailer brakes so it will not move.

Thanks.....

Oh that's terrible... so sorry to hear it, and the headaches/heartaches you're dealing with. Makes me wonder if one of those GPS tracking units buried under it would be worth while.... I'm one of those just-in-case guys anyways, and this is worrisome to me. At least, until I get it parked in my back yard and can more adequately secure it.

I don't know of any theft alarms for these things, but i'm sure they're out there....

Forgot to mention GPS capable in an alarm system I will be looking for in the event the alarm/brakes fail to prevent any unwanted contact with the trailer. We believed there was little chance to have the trailer stolen out of our back yard. But, there was a small window of opportunity available that leads us to believe the thieves had been watching for the right time to move.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.
If you pull the emergency brake cable it activates the magnets and when the trailer is moved the brakes come on. Just take the cable indoors with you. Back in the days when I drove my classic Mustangs to car shows I would remove a wheel and take it into the motel room. A bit over the top but I prized those cars. JMO

Did you have a hitch lock? Something like this might have slowed them down enough to make them have second thoughts and go look for an easier target.

Definitely not recommended. That will drain your battery in very short order, probably less than 24 hours.

Might be more common than you would think. We have friends in Stevensville MT. that had their trailer stolen from their house on Easter Sunday after they left for church and egg hunt. Said they were gone all of 4 hrs. Leo still has not found it, probably never will.

Sorry I thought the unit would be plugged into shore power.

i have been looking into this stuff also

viper alarm does make gps enabled alarms for cars that seem like they would work on rv's

found this also

https://www.amazon.com/Fortress-Secu.../dp/B00DAA4YTK

and this one

https://www.tattletale.com/rv-alarm/

would love to hear feedback if anyone is using any of these systems or similar

all my stuff is insured but i dont really have time to deal with the hassle of it getting stolen lol

it is pretty quick and easy to put this on and i will be doing a lot of boondocking/camping in dry federal places and moving it around a lot for work

the thing was expensive but i do think it would be hard to get it off, they would probably move on to the next unlocked trailer and grab it
or that is the hope anyway lol

Anything distinctive on the outside of it? We live fairly close to all the routes heading north to Mille Lacs and I can keep an eye out if it comes this way. Or, sadly enough, if it's coming this way as a meth house too....since that's becoming more and more of an issue.

Stolen Passport 195RB

Unfortunately, nothing distinctive that would help ID the trailer.

Contacted by Allstate Insurance adjuster within one day and may have claim resolved within two weeks. Advised wait time could be two weeks to ensure the trailer is not recovered by law enforcement.

Viewed the Proven Industries demo video. Looks like a secure lock made of 1/4" hardened steel. I'll continue to looks to others for comparison.

Thanks to all for your feedback.
