Quieting a generator enclosure.
Anyone ever sound insulated the sheet metal box surrounding the onboard generator? I have a Onan 5500 on my Carbon 357. The enclosure surrounding the unit is a very thin gauge sheet metal and seems to audibly vibrate. The gen itself is relatively quiet being enclosed in the Onan housing. I've done a little research and find that Dynamat seems to be ineffective for this type of application as does foam insulation board from Lowe's/Home Depot. Just curious if anyone has had success in dampening the noise from the vibrations?

If vibration is the issue, Google "generator vibration isolation pads".
I don't know how robust the floor is that the generator is mounted on, but you may want to support it more if it is just sheet metal. Isolating the running generator from the structure will reduce vibration.

Must be a cost reduction on later models. Have no issues with the Onan , no floor as such on mine, solid enclosure. Overall quiet operation

I'm with Paraptor, I have absolutely no issues with mine. Quiet as can be and no vibration to speak of.
