Travel stops for diesel Highway 20 west

Heading from GA to AZ very soon. Will be on hwy 20 over 1,000 miles. Previous journeys (not on this route) exposed us to RV friendly fuel stations at major truck stops. By that I mean, separate pumps for RV's in front, not the rear of the station with all of the truckers. Wife "hates", to say it mildly, to be sandwiched in those truck fuel lanes.

We "forgot" the names of those more RV user friendly centers.....can anyone please refresh our memories

Pilot/ Flyin J, Loves and many others, might think about getting acopy of EXIT NOW interstate Exit Directory, it has a lot of useful information. 2012 edition due out April this year 2011 is still available.

Outbackmel,

As the co-pilot, I like 'The RVer's Friend' (North America, Diesel/Parking Directory),
and 'The Next Exit' which also lists some c/g's & RV parks.

Online, try these sites:

Truck stop locations/fuel, rest areas, weather, restricted roads & low overpasses...
http://www.dieselboss.com/truckstops.asp

For smaller communities & more rural travel, State Hwy's etc...
http://gasprices.mapquest.com (drop down menu for diesel, and LP)

Hope this helps,
Terri, the Chevy co-pilot

Thanks Steve

Been up in the mountains today and brought the Outback down to a paved storage yard 5 minutes from the house. Next week we will be prepping and leaving on the 24....getting "excited" ... Taking it slow and easy...the way "retirement" is meant to be

Staying several days in Tombstone, AZ along the way. Meeting friends and spending one day in old west Bisbee, AZ..taking my 10 gallon cowboy hat and boots

I have Verizon mifi and it is working well so I will not miss forum time...

Mel, Also don't forget that WalMart has 10cents a gallon off diesel or gas with a gift card from Walmart. Just remember when you're checking out with milk and bread to get a gift card for the amount you think you'll need, drive from the parking lot to the fuel pump and fill up, 60 gallons is $6 it all adds up...

Enjoy the drive, it's fantastic this time of year
