in command and ac

Just picked up a 2019 cougar half ton 32bhs. What the heck does the exclamation point do on the incommand?? Also, I have 30 amp service set up at my house for my old camper. My new one is 50, by using a 50 to 30 amp converter would my ac still work? Right now I can not get it to fire up. Thanks

Our 5er is 50 amp and as you have a 30 amp outlet that we are plugged into at home. We are able to run 1 AC unit at a time. Haven't tried to do both.

No idea on the exclamation mark, maybe that's the cuss button?

You'll have to manage your power draw to 30 amps in whatever combination you like. But yes, one AC would be normal

Thats what i thought. I figured i should still be able to run my ac on 30, but it won't kick on at all. The fan wont even turn on. When i hit the exclamation point on the incommand all of the lights in my camper flash on and off. Just doesnt sound right

Check out your adapter. Some adapters only send one leg of hot. You need a 50 to 30 that has both 50 amp legs hot.

The 50 amp cord is 240 and the 30 amp is only 120.

So I tried again this morning and the ac fired up and worked. The only two things that were different was that it was 20 degrees cooler in the camper. Yesterday it read 100 degrees inside, this morning was 80. I also reset my password on the in command. Not sure if either of those two things are related. Would it not kick on because it was too hot?

Same problem

I just p/u my 2019 338RLK Cougar and am having the same issue with the temperature. When I opened up the camper and turned on the fans to draw out the heat and it dropped to 92 degrees the A/C turned on. The display read 100 degrees before hand.

ASA Incommand

Spoke with the ASA Jensen Incommand Rep today and he explained that Keystone is having a problem with the gateway between the incommand system and the A/C (Dometic Only) system. Said he saw an email that was put out about it , if the temperature reaches over 100 degrees the A/C will not come. Said its not an incommand problem but a Keystone problem. Said its a known problem.

That might explain why my ac would not turn on the day I brought it home. Wonder how that is a keystone problem?

My Alpine doesn’t have the AC connected through the InCommand. The exclamation mark makes lights flash. Not sure if it makes the outside lights flash too. Maybe it’s supposed to be an emergency signal.

My Alpine does not have a connection between the A/C and the In Command but the new In Command Global system will control up to four A/C units as well as heating..

Interesting Keystone would put out a system with an AC that won’t turn on at temps above 100. I’m glad I have old style switches and digital thermostat.

This is just my "guess" but probably accurate. The In-Command system is not manufactured by Keystone, but by ASA electronics, the same company that manufacturers Jensen Audio systems for RV's. They are in direct competition with Lippert and both companies "romance" the RV manufacturers with "buy our system and we'll do XXXXX"

I'd suspect that ASA rushed the In-Command system to market to "beat out Lippert" and didn't finish all the "product testing/what if" situations before shipping the package to Keystone. BOTH (ASA and Keystone) likely were unaware of the >100F issue with air conditioners.

It's likely much the same as the TAKATA airbag problems faced by all the vehicle manufacturers. It's not a Ford issue or a GM issue or a Toyota issue or a Chrysler issue or a Nissan issue. Rather, it's a sub-assembly manufacturer issue.

Granted, Keystone needs to step up to the plate and insist that their supplier fix the problem, but like Ford, they didn't build the airbag, but get dragged through the mud with TAKATA.... Same with Keystone getting dragged through the mud with ASA and the In-Command system.

Lippert did much the same to Keystone a few years ago with the "smooth front, glass touch" panels that were installed in place of manual switches in the Cougar line. That also got "blamed on Keystone" but in reality, it was Lippert who failed to properly test the technology before making promises to Keystone that would give them the sales advantage with "the newest feature to enhance customer experience".....

By the way, if you go to the In-Command website, there are updates for both the Display Commander and the Body Control units. Those software updates may address the air conditioner issues.... https://www.asaelectronics.com/incom...-globalconnect

I think I am glad mine does not have the A/C controls.

The exclamation point is a "panic mode" it will flash the outside lights in a certain sequence. Kind of like the panic mode on a car keychain, without the noise.
