Storage Box Under the Bed

We have a 2013 Cougar Xlite 21RBS and we have really enjoyed it.
On our last trip, the storage box at the end of the bed came loose on one side and shifted. I don't see an issue with the repairs but my DW thought it would be good to make access easier by adding drawers or doors. We put a 4" memory foam pad on the mattress and now raising the top, even with the assist is more difficult. Has anyone had any experiance with this?

I have seen it but have not done it, makes a lot of sense. I think I would go with doors if I were to do it.

Do a search for "bed platform mods" and you'll see what some of the great and creative members of this forum have done.

We are going to do something similar to this:

I can't remember from which member I got this but THANKS!!

One of those "Round Tuit" jobs for me. Great idea, I've seen plenty of projects done, just have not done mine yet. I'm leaning towards framing out and opening to custom fit a laundry basket that will slide in the storage area. Saw that on another thread on some forum and thought that was a great use of the space.

Storage Box Under the Bed

Interesting Stuff, CINCYGUS I like the Hooks you added in the storage area, I think I might add that too. No matter how carful you roll hoses and extension cords they seem to get tangled up with something else when traveling.
I think were going to go with doors since it isn't a large box. Also I think I'll put something in for my wife's shoes between he doors. I'll post pic's when I am finished.

This exactly what I did. I cut out the opening as large as possible. I did not frame it out, but used the existing small framing and reinforced the top with a piece of aluminum angle. My wife found a basket that was the perfect size to fit in the hole. Sooooooooo much easier than lifting the bed. Its also outta sight. So much so, she forgets to use it. LOL
