Bridge collapsed

This is crazy. I drive this everyday and just went over it about an hour prior to this. Hopefully everyone is ok.

Yeah, I haven't been on that stretch of road since September, but I'm going on Saturday. Not worried, but just a little weirded out. Hope an easy detour is in the works.

There are 4 other ways around it. One is the Burlington mt Vernon bridge just east like 1/4 mile, one is hwy 9 a little farther east. Another is the memorial hwy in downtown mt Vernon that heads west and then meets up with hwy 20 and the final is the Conway exit and head towards laconner then to hwy 20. The only downfall is those all are two lane roads except the bridge between mt Vernon and Burlington is 4. So traffic will be bad for a while.

One witness said an oversized load hit the bridge as his pilot car was too close so he had no time to stop. We shall see if this is true or not.

That's about 50 miles north of us, we where just over it a few weeks ago scary. I'm hearing the same thing that an oversized load hit the gerters that made it collapse. Time will tell. That's sure going to bottle neck that area for a while.

And unfortunately the two that were taken to the hospital were most likely the ones towing a TT as that trucks roof was pretty smashed. Hopefully they will be fine.

I'm glad the people involved are doing ok thank God for that. It's defiantly going to be a bottleneck for a while. I'm glad where heading south this weekend won't have to deal with the backups.
Everybody who is traveling have a good and safe weekend and don't forget all those who have served and gave us the freedoms we have today Thank you!!!!!

I took the detour today. Added about fifteen minutes of travel time. No big deal for me personally.
