New Cougar 24 RBS Half Ton Owner
Hello Keystone Forum
First Camper was the Jayco 19XUD, just upgraded to a 2018 Cougar 24RBS Half-ton. Towing with a 2015 Chevy Crew 5.3 4x4. Dealer prepped with a Blue Ox hitch. Heading out soon for a quick shakedown-will try to post pictures at some point.

Man, I know I had my head cocked sideways but that bottom pic sure didn't look like a Chevy pickup....then I read the heading saying it was the new TV. Congrats!!

You're holding your phone the wrong way. Our phones are designed to take photos in wide angle so you need to hold it sideways, then when you post them on a forum they'll be correct.
: )
But I'll crop'em for you.

Well that certainly looks better! Thank you very much! The new tow vehicle works much better-will be doing a Dallas to Branson trip soon and will be interesting to see mpg with the diesel.

Great looking truck.
You apparently went overboard on the tow vehicle. Same here, we bought a turbo-diesel F250 just in case we decided to get a big heavy trailer later on.
Also got 4-wheel drive "just in case". I really like the Dodge and Ford diesels, and both have a lot of interior creature comforts we like, plus I like how tall they both are.
I'm guessing your truck barely notices that trailer is back there, am I right?
We have family up near Branson and make that drive 2 or 3 times a year, pretty country up there and only about an 8 hour drive.

Just don't be thinking "too big and too heavy" later on. The F250 Diesel doesn't have a very big payload capacity. Been there and done that.....Now own a 1Ton F350.

Excessive payload capacity is a wonderful thing

Curious did you buy your Cougar 24 at Holiday World in Dallas? I am still using the WD hitch that was on the half ton mainly for sway-are you using a WD hitch? Yes, barely notice I am towing.
Yes, I did get 4x4 but there is no doubt this thing will not offload like the chevy, it is just too heavy. It is also my daily driver-works well for trips to the grocery!

Well if you're talking about moving up to a dually, I agree, but we looked into that and we don't want one because it severely limits where we can drive and park the tow vehicle due to the width. The only difference between the F250 and F350 SRW is the F350 has an extra leaf spring in the back, which isn't worth changing out trucks. I will be adding Firestone bags, or something similar giving me a higher payload than the stock 1 ton F350.

We just did a Dallas to Branson trip a couple of weeks ago, those hills in Arkansas killed our mileage but we have a gas motor. Either way it was a great trip, love Branson, enjoy the trip.
