MORryde Steps install

Anyone upgraded to the MORryde steps. How do you like them? Any issues with install?

they came stock on my Sprinter 29BH. they are definitely a sturdy step and can adjust to accommodate a longer reach to the ground. once while using auto level my tires were 2' off the ground and without those steps I don't think I would have been able to get in my camper.

now the bad... you have to completely open your door and screen door to deploy your steps or put them away. if stopped at a rest area and they are deployed they stick out about 4-4.5 feet away from the side of the camper into the next lane.

if you are at a sandy campground and forget to thoroughly sweep each step before stowing them away they will dump it's contents on the floor of your camper.

when on uneven ground and the ground a few feet from your door is a little higher, your entry and screen door will rub when trying to open or close.

do not slam them into place or you will find them laying inside the camper with the hinge destroyed along with the thin aluminum door frame.

these are only my experiences with them and are not meant to deter you from them YMMV.

We had also thought about getting them, the fold up ones, but decided against them just for the reasons mentioned. They also make a set that pins to the opening so as to make them removable but that would just be something else we'd have to haul around and handle each time we setup.

We are using the Lippert version with a wider top step, and yes, the drawback is access to the RV with the steps in place. The rest - common sense says that you need to sweep them off. As far as slamming them shut - uhhh. But just in case I had a CRS session, reinforced the frame at the latch area with a backer piece of 1/8x3/4 aluminum pop riveted in place and a piece of rubber on the step side for rattle abatement.

If the widths were close I can't help think that you should be able purchase the clips like the ones on the ramp door and locate them at the entrance door. I had thought about doing that also but I have two sets of steps to choose from as I have 2 patios but now that cold weather is here it will be a springtime thing now. I haven't used them on the patios yet...not real excited about having to handle them unless I'll be camped for an extended period of time.

IMO there are better options than trying to modify the patio steps.
