2015 30 foot Cougar Xlite Cable Sideouts

The cable sideout motors in this travel trailer are in the back (outer wall) at the top. Any info on how to get to the motors to attach the crank to retract the sideouts? And I am told there is a special drive crank to use, which of course didn't come with the trailer.

You may need to remove the slide fascia to access the motor. In the bag with all the manuals there is usually the adapter that fits in a drill. You should be able to find one on line. From the BAL AccuSlide parts lost its called "P854775 Manual Override Shaft".

If it's like a lot of other Cougar or premier TT's with cable slides I believe there is a panel in the center of the front fascia that can be removed. I believe that is where you connect up with the special tool.

For all who are concerned about the cable side-outs and where the manual override shaft is, after studying the front fascia and removing the cover buttons on the screws, I found that the screws can be removed. The motor was directly behind the fascia AND the manual override shaft was zip tied to the bottom of the motor.

That's good information! One would think that would be called out someplace like, oh I don't know, , the owners manual! Or even a small sticker someplace on the slide fascia.

That's why any time I see a new unit with cable slides, I take the override tool off and put it in the owners packet. Then I explain it's purpose and how to use it at the walk through.

Of course the tool only works when the motor fails, and
not work for a broken cable.

On a 26RBI the fascia across the top of each slide needs to be removed. you pop off the button covers which are hiding bolts. Remove the bolts and the fascia comes off. My tools were stored right with the motors.

Doesn't do me much good because I've been procrastinating buying a driver just for this purpose and to emergency retract/extend the awning.
