New Passport-weak brakes
Finally, I traded in my 2013 Passport 2650 and picked up the new 2670. The main reason for change was too small bunk bed in my old unit, which was outgrown by my daughter. The new Passport looks very nice and for some reason tows much easier, at 6th gear most of the time and improved by at least 1.5 mpg gas mileage. However, the brakes are very weak compared to the old one. With old passport my brake controller was rarely giving more than 6V, and the braking was very strong. Now I had to readjust the controller, so now it shows all 13 volt of the output, but the deceleration is barely adequate. All 4 drums were equally hot. Is it a brake in issue? But my old trailer had strong braking from day one. Any other thoughts? Thank you.

I'd think the first thing would be to "level the playing field"... By that, I mean that right now, unless you've inspected and adjusted your brakes since delivery, you don't know the condition of your brakes, nor do you know if they are adjusted properly. I'd suggest that initially, jack each wheel, inspect the brake components, adjust the brakes, check all the electrical connections, then do another test tow. If they are still "barely adequate" I'd consider having the dealer's service department take a look.
Depending on when you took delivery, you may be able to get the dealer to do this inspection, but what would probably take you a Saturday afternoon with a couple of "adult beverages" may mean leaving your new RV with the dealership for weeks on end. I believe that the brake adjustment is only covered during the first 90 days of the Keystone warranty. After that, it's considered "owner maintenance" and the factory won't pay for the adjustment, only for defective parts.

Mine was weak took to dealer said they are fine after towing for a whale seem to work better now. They might need adjusted

On the way home from picking up my Cougar I had to up the brake level to 10 and it still wasn't grabbing well. Now I run the controller at about 6 and all is fine. It takes a while for the new brakes to wear in I guess. I've seen this reported in multiple posts on this subject.

Many previous discussions here about this. Answer remains the same: inspect, adjust if needed, put some miles on them to wear them in. If you need further details, the search function is your friend.

All advice was good. I will add a question and advice. Boost, do you have it and set or checked it at different levels. This trailer is different and may need to be set higher. I say this because after not pulling a TT for several years when I got the current trailer I forgot all about that adjustment, after checking the brake controller manual, the next time out I adjusted it and than was happy with the brakes.

My old 238ML required a higher setting when I first had it. After several trips I was able to turn it down. It appears my 2810BH is the same way. We'll see.

I changed gain to full blast and changed boost from b0 to b2. I spoke with the dealer they have no problems inspecting and adjusting brakes any time under warranty. I will go to the state park in the beginning of December and than will see, if there is any change in braking force

My 2016 passport 2810 BH is exhibiting the same issue. However I’m not worried about at the moment because drum brakes seating period. I don’t even have but 500 miles on the unit once I’m able to really put some miles on I should have a better indication on how they are working

The first impression is very good. Great fit and finish, better materials for the walls, leather sofa, LEDs throughout, bigger TV, better TV mount, more kitchen counter top space, bigger bathroom, outdoor kitchen, big bunks. On the negative side, some storage spaces are missing or moved to another areas, so some adjustment is needed; bathroom countertop are very small compared to the old unit. 272 and 2810 may or may not be better in some areas, but I did not want to push the limits further in terms of length and weight.

I have seen the same on my 2810. I have my brake controller on light electric. Initially it was set at 9.5. Over about 1000 miles I have settled in around 7. I think it's just a break in.

Dunno where you're located, but arent many of these actually towed to the dealer from Indiana? IE - may have well over 500 mi on it already.

I'll echo that my brakes are the same on my 2016 Bullet 272BH. I can turn the brake level all the way up and still not lock them with the trailer empty doing 25 mph when manually triggering just the trailer brakes.
I've set them and the boost to a level that provides what feels good and update as needed later.

Just an update... now that I have some miles on them they have significantly more grab. I'm still not locking them up but the break-in has helped significantly.

I drove my Impact off the lot thinking the brakes where not up to par when I got home I did a inspection under the trailer and found brake wires hanging out from the under belly that had been rubbed into against the tires, I took some pictures and repaired 1 broken and 1 on its way.
