Yep, I thought the old 2001 Ram did a good job of moving the Copper Canyon, no comparison, with the 2016 3500 6.7.

I've posted pics in the past on my tow vehicle (2016 F350 Dually L.B), but here are a few pics of the bed of the truck and my setup with an aux. "L" shaped diesel tank, a low profile cross bed toolbox, and the B&W 25K Companion hitch using the Factory puck system....
When I wired the circuit for the fuel pump, I installed a 40A DC relay in the engine compartment of the truck by the passenger side battery. I fused it at 30A and ran the power circuit back to the pump motor. I also installed a toggle switch in the toolbox on the driver's side and inside the toolbox....and that is what I use to turn the heavy duty relay on to provide power to the pump motor. Of course, I leave the switch that is on the pump/motor housing in the on position so all I have to do is open the toolbox and flip the toggle switch on to turn on the relay.
PS.....the pieces that you see in a couple of the pics that you see sticking out from the bed rails are bicycle mounts to hold our bikes. They always went in the bed of the truck when we had our tow behind Toy Hauler, but I'm now going to have to put them in the trailer garage for transport. I'm relocating them though, so that they can still be used to haul bikes in the bed of the truck when we are not towing the trailer.

Nice set up never seen an auxilary tank that small, most I have seen go all the way across the bed

Talk about tires scrubbing, 4 axles? Wonder how long it is? The Continental Coach 5th wheels are 53', this looks close to that.
Pretty sure that older F350 backed under it ain't near enough truck, that would require a MDT at the very least.

With Ford truck bed sides being so tall & the aux fuel tank in the center do you have to climb into the bed to reach the opposite side to fill that tank or carry a 6' ladder (didn't see one in the bed).

It's not the biggest one out there, but 42 gallons because of the "L" shape. You are mostly looking at the vertical section, but if you look closer, you'll see that the rest of it is below the truck toolbox. 42 gallon aux. tank, plus the 37 1/2 gallon tank on the truck and when I'm fully loaded with diesel, I leave with right at 80 gallons onboard.

My Dually is a '16, so the bed rails aren't as tall as the newer ones....but I do climb up in the bed to refuel. I never fill the aux. tank to the brim though...I always leave a few inches at the top for expansion.

You would think the fill location could be a specification on order (left,driver or right,passenger) and be built as manufactured. Unless there is some reason the present configuration must be in place?

The tank I have came new with the fill on the passenger side and the pump on the driver side....and that is if you put the tank in the truck with the vertical portion closest to the tailgate. That configuration allows you to put a crossbed tool box in front of it....right behind the cab of the truck. When I turned mine around a few weeks ago in order to get it out of the way because I am now towing a 5ver and I knew the tank positioned like it was would cause clearance issues with the trailer when turning. So, I unbolted the tank, turned it 180 degrees and put the vertical part up by the cab. Of course doing that, also put my fill on the driver's side and the pump on the passenger side. So, I simply pulled the fittings out of the top of the tank and swapped them so that it was like it had been previously....fill on the right, pump on the left.

That was an option I did not know was available (switching the pump and fill).
I guess if you have enough cord for the pump electrical,you could put the fill on the same side as the trucks fuel fill (switch your auxiliary tank fittings) and top off both tanks from the same side of the truck?
After a trip to the scales (next time I roll with the trailer loaded) I will see what I have available in payload and make a decision on an auxiliary tank and size. Right now I can tow about 3-4 hours between fills when towing. And that works pretty much in unison with bladder relief requirements.

Removing the fill port fitting and the pump side fittings require a large pipe wrench or a pair of 460 Channellocks....the fitting is probably about 3- 3 1/4" from one side of the hex to the other side of the hex.....and it's tight. I literally had to put the channellocks on it and not just pull, but brace myself and use my legs to get it started unscrewing.....but it's certainly doable.

A call to the manufacture may help. I would make sure there is not a factory seal or something that may be compromised by unscrewing it. If it's possible it should make that tank a little more user friendly.

There is no factory seal.....it's a simple pipe thread fitting using NPT standardized threads on both the male and female parts. I would and did use a pipe sealant made for gasoline though instead of just plain old everyday pipe thread sealant.
