2018 Springdale 201 tv mounting
Hello everyone! Very excited about our new travel trailer! We would like to add a tv to the space pre-destined for a tv. I can’t find any how-to videos or instructions in the manual. Looking for suggestions on collapsing/swing out brackets and what size tv will fit in that space. Any other 201 owners out there DIY a tv installation? Thank you!!!

EricV,
Do you have one TV mounted in your RV and you want to install additional TV's? or is this the first TV that will be installed in your RV, in the space where the optional TV would be installed at the factory?

New Space for tv
JRTJH Thank you for the reply. Still trying to figure out how this forum works and how to reply. Here’s a picture of what I’ve got going on. I measured 11” from the”stud” to the kitchen cabinet so I’m guessing a 22” tv would fit?

I installed two 24" TVs in our 202QBWE, one near those controls and another in the bedroom. Be aware that the sticker may not be even close to a stud, you need to use a stud finder or will likely hit air. Ours were both at least 4" off. We used the adjustable arm type, so they can swing out when on and placed in different directions, then pushed back against the wall when moving. Only two holes lined up, however, so I had to drill two others on that X shaped flat part to match up with the back of the TVs.

Thanks for the info! Did you have to drill holes to hide the wires? Any recommendation on 12volt TVs or? Curious if a 12v can be run off just battery?Thank you!

No, I just used 1" wire loom to cover them. I found that the 12 Volt TVs were not as good and more expensive, as they are a specialty item and don't go on sale. For dry camping, I bought a very inexpensive 150 watt inverter from Amazon, and just plug it into the 12 volt socket and the TV into it. It works just fine.

Thank you so much! What about the TVs that have a DVD player on the side? Or did you just buy a separate DVD player? Mount it or just bring it out when you use it?

My Jensen entertainment system from the factory has a DVD/CD player already that I have connected to the main TV. It's just a matter of changing the source on the TV remote. It's also a smart TV fior when I have wifi available or create one with my ipad air. If you get a TV with the DVD built in, the 150 watt inverter could still be enough to handle it, but I would go up to 250 to be safe. A chart I found shows the DVD player at 35-100 watts, TV 65.

If you visit Harbor Freight or Loves truck stops they are good places to purchase invertors. You could most likely get a 2000 watt for the same price as your 150 watt. Before retiring I picked up a 3000 watt at Loves for $260+/- & mounted in my work truck to run drills & grinders.

A typical 150 watt "cigarette plug" inverter is about $16 on Amazon and with the 20% off coupon, less than that at Harbor Freight. I haven't seen a 2000 watt inverter for less than $200 in years. Just to run a 24" TV and possibly a "base model DVD player" the $16 inverter is all he'd need.
Now if he's going to invest in a "multi battery solar system" or ????? Then yup, a "high power/high dollar inverter" would be nice to have, but without the battery system to support it, he wouldn't get much TV time. It takes juice to light all those LED's and turn the fan on a big inverter.
