RV Travel Map Question

My wife and I recently bought one of those stick on travel maps of the US where it starts out blank and as you visit a state you add the colorized sticker for that state. We are not agreeing on one item. And I am not going to tell who is saying what because if I reveal my wife’s opinion everyone would just say she is right.

SO....... Do you fill in all states visited in any RV? Or all states visited in the RV that the sticker is applied to? I almost feel like this should be a POLL or VOTE.

Can’t really put a sticker on all states visited because we have been very fortunate and have been to all but 2 states via air, car and hotels. So this really comes down to states visited in an RV or this specific RV that the sticker will be applied to.

Thanks in advance and I promise not to tell on those who disagree with HER!

States map

DW and I decided to fill in the map with states we have been to or through since we got married 41 yrs ago. When I was a kid we had travel trailers and my Dad took family on many trips - so I have been to more states than we have as a couple.

I say you can make up your own rules...but as I have stated many times in the past - happy wife happy life!

My DW, who is NEVER wrong, insists that the state should only be added to the blank space AFTER you've spent a night in that state. And we both believe it is YOUR camping history, not just that particular RV. It would have to be cumulative.

No matter which side of the discussion your wife is on.... let her be right!

"Happy wife, happy life" I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken!

Good luck,

rule for some

ONLY the states you were camping in while RVing.

And, you must spend at least one night in each state.

What are the ramifications for doing it your way vs doing it her way. I thought so. So if someone inquires "have you been to all those states" just answer honestly, it was my wife's idea.

We don't have the stick-on map the OP mentions, but use the electronic one as shown in my signature. We use Rosco's approach; only identify states where we have actually camped.

So while we have visited WV, AR and MI (but so far have somehow always skirted IA) those states are not highlighted.

^^^ What he said (works for us). We decided to document our "family camping history" not the "Cougar camping history". When you look at it objectively, you paid for the decals, use them as you want.

I would imagine that somewhere, (not telling where) there's someone who plastered the entire thing on their camper with the plan to "peel off the states as they camp there" intending to leave the state's decal in the trash when they leave....

Do what makes your DW happy, that way "you'll be happy too".....

Only map is in my sig. and then only the states we have spent a night in the RV in. DW wanted a decal map, I said no and actually got away with it.

I put that map on a piece of plexiglass & hung it on 2 suction hooks outside when parked, wasn't sticking it to the RV. We, she, decided if we spent a night in a state a sticker got added, as long as it wasn't stuck to the RV I didn't care how she wanted to do it. A huge gust of wind came through, blew it off the hooks & busted to pieces, done, did not replace.

Do whatever you want, it's your map.

We fill in the states we have visited together.

Thanks everyone. We have decided to fill in the states where we have camped before. Not just in this RV

RED GREEN is Awesome. I had the chance to meet him here in Texas and he was kind enough to sign a roll of Duct Tape for me.

Yes Red Green (real name Steve Smith) is a Canadian treasure. He and his wife had a singing/variety show on CBC tv in the early 80s called Smith & Smith. Hard to believe he was a singer with that gravely voice.
He brought the use of duct tape to a whole new level.

Good luck,
Agree!
Short story
At the pearly gates there are two lines waiting to get in. One line has a sign that reads
"Men who are dominated by their wife" and the line went back for a very long way.
The other line has a sign that says
"Men who dominate their wife" and the only one there, was Joe.
A friend of Joe's spots him and hollers "What are you doing over there Joe?"
Joe replies "My wife told me to stand here."

I mounted it a piece of plexiglass and screwed it inside the door. When we traded 5ers removed 4 small screws and filled the holes with white caulk then remounted to new unit. We fill in the state as we visit That is DWs job

Count if stay in RV

Our rule is we have to stay at least one night in our RV. We are retired now, but in our prior life we both traveled for work so most states were traveled to. We want on the map in the RV to reflect where we've stayed in it.
