Camp gulf

It is down to the last few days, we leave Friday morning for camp gulf in destin Florida. First long pull with the TT and first camping trip to the beach. Looking forward to the trip and the family fun. And not to mention the very needed time off.

Have a good trip! I was looking at that location and am interested to hear how you like it. They are currently experiencing red tide so hopefully that will not impact your trip.

There is NO red tide in Destin. The red tide is below Tampa, approximately 400 miles away.

We love the Gulf Coast. Beautiful beaches and yes, NO red tide at Destin. What is your intended route? We may have some alternative suggestions to avoid some problem areas.

We went there back in March. We didn't get the Beach front sites, but got the next row from it. Our site was full hookup with electric, water, sewer and cable. Wifi was available but slow at times. One pic if from our site (inside the TV with trailer behind us) and the other is at the beach.

I hope, and I'm sure, you will have a great time. We spend quite a bit of time in Destin but not in the RV; we stay at the Emerald Grande resort and we really like it. Hope you have a blast! They have some of the prettiest beaches and water in the country.

route to destin

Stay on I-65 through Montgomery towards Mobile to Exit 114 Hwy 55 to Andalusia then stay on 55 to Florala then take Hwy 331 to DeFuniak Springs and on to Hwy 98 which is on the coast. Turn west on 98 and watch for your cg approx 6-8 miles on the beach side.. 2 tips -- fuel up at Giddy up and Go in Andalusia as fuei will be 15 to 25 cents per gallon higher when you hit Florida and while you are in Destin look at Topsail Hill State Parkwhich I think is much nicer and less expensive than Gulf. I forgot tip#3 -- eat at Dewey Destins seafood, the one on the little pier on the bay not the one in the fancy building . Just tell the wife not to look as you drive out there or she may not want to eat there, but trust me really good shrimp and great crabcakes.

Tooth Ferry has it 100% right. That's the way I travel i every year. also Dewey Destins best seafood in the area. I like the one on the harbor, don't have to fight damn seagulls. Also the new buffet right in town ( ole country buffet)
Real good old fashion southern cooking. Enjoy your trip I'll be back in Oct.

Bath house is a nice setup... They helped me get backed in, since this was my first time (using my parents trailer, not the one in the sig below). Hope to go back some day.

get gas in Alabama

I live in NW Florida Fort Walton Beach to be exact, a little wet this week. Get your fuel before you leave Alabama about 15 to 20 cents difference. Enjoy your stay. The most beautiful beaches in the world the sugar white sands squeak when you walk on it.

Surferbill, your right sand is great, water is beautiful. Had rain yesterday for a good while made the most out of it though. Hopefully today will be smooth, wish the water was a little calmer like it was last Friday and Saturday but it’s all good.
