Checking in from Colorado
Thank you for allowing us in. We are in the process of possibly purchasing a Cougar 25RDS (WE). To be perfectly clear, we have not purchased it yet, but after much research, it's looking like the right fit for us. The tow vehicle is a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Diesel (3.0L). I look forward to doing some camping this year. I grew up camping almost every weekend, and we had a pop-up Starcraft Starflight 6 back then. We have tented it since, but now it is getting to old to lay on the ground! It will be good to get back to camping. Thank you for allowing us to be in the group!

Welcome to the forums. I hope your search for your new camper is successful and you have great memories with it.
Your story is identical to ours. We (both) came from camping RV families as kids, and when we got married tent camped for many years. Then one day, "she" said ... get me off the ground or I'm never camping again! And the rest is history!
Please feel free to jump in on the forums, ask question, and share your experiences. We all learn from each other, regardless of how much we all "think" we may know. There is always something new to learn about this RVing lifestyle from someone else!
Again... Welcome!

You may want to check your payload (yellow/white placard in the driver door frame) as the 30' bumper pull may be a bit much for a 1/2 ton, especially with a heavy diesel engine. The tongue weight of that trailer fully loaded is almost 1200 lbs (figure 13 percent of the gross weight) and when you add in the weight of the hitch and passengers you will have at least 1600 lbs payload. Is that truck's payload up to it? Also a half ton truck isn't really that happy with a 30' trailer (stabiity). Just wanted to provide a heads up for safety sake. Welcome to the site and consider these things.

Welcome from Fort Collins (currently wintering in Florida). Plenty of great camping locations in our state. Enjoy!

I also live in Colorado. The rv campgrounds in CO fill up fast and reservations can be made now for the summer. Takes some planning but you might think about that.

We have a 2021 25RDS, live in it full-time, and really like it for its windows. We pull it with at F250 (3/4 ton) so strongly recommend you consider a bigger truck and the use of anti-sway bars. Also, consider adding a second solar panel, which helps keeps the batteries up.
