HURRY WARM WEATHER, I have a new toy...

I really REALLY enjoy motorcycle riding. My DW won't drive one and when she rides with me, she usually leans the wrong way.... I know, but she just "doesn't get it".... Anyway, I've wanted a "summer snowmobile" for several years now and have been trying to find a way that we can both go, without the frustration of trying to stay balanced.....

Well, I stopped by the snowmobile dealership to get new oil filters to start getting them ready for summer storage and "this thing" was sitting on the showroom floor.... Twenty minutes later, it was on a trailer, behind my truck, headed to the house. Since there's still snow everywhere (it is melting, just not fast enough) and mud from melting snow on the road in front of our house, I don't want to go riding for a while yet (not to mention it was 18F this morning). Even with snowmobile suits, it would be "quite chilly"....

I did get quite the look when I left for 2 oil filters and came home with a trailer and a trike... But it's all smiles now

Anyway, HURRY UP WARM WEATHER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very nice John! Enjoy. Tell the DW no leaning required.
Have seen a few of these down here in AZ. Quite a sight coming down the road.

I'm afraid the GVW is less than the pin weight of the Cougar, so even though it's got a 2.4L engine and a 5 speed manual transmission, chances are it would "squat and whimper" if I even tried to put a fifth wheel hitch on it

I'm going to order a trailer for it tomorrow, then it's a matter of deciding whether to drag the boat or the Slingshot behind the Cougar.... My guess is that this year the boat won't get a lot of use LOL

I've got a feeling I'll either be adding onto the existing pole barn or building another one this summer..... The contractor who built my last one suggested I build the biggest I could fit on that piece of property (about 40x80) and I didn't want to go that big.... Now I'm thinking maybe I should have listened to his suggestions....

That was her first comment (after "What the hell is that thing???")... I assured her, no leaning required, she smiled, although it was kind of a shallow one. Now she's all grins and ready to ride as soon as the road dries up enough to get it out to the pavement.....

Wow John!! Locked in for the winter has really got you going!! You may want to move further south before you go broke!!

In all seriousness, your new toy looks like a blast. I have a friend that bought one. The first time I saw him was at a red light as I came back into town. I was telling Susan....what is that thing...then saw my friend driving it. We waved. He said they really like it.

It won't be like a bike; no leaning and sort of awkward in a turn....like a car. But it is going to be a lot of fun. Now, leave the boat to take the Can Am? Well, I love both things myself so go have a super good time!!

John has a Polaris Slingshot, Can Am Makes the Spyder, Another 3 wheel Toy. We had a Spyder a few years back and made many a trip from Lakes of the North over the Bridge to get Ice Cream In St Ignace. A nice day trip. I am sure John has made that trip once or twice. That is probably on his to do list this summer with the Slingshot.

Thanks for the clarification Frank G.

John, sorry for the confusion. I had read Can Am up in the thread and just threw that out. Only ones I ever saw were single rider bikes. Did not dig into the "Slingshot" name but I should have. Polaris makes good stuff.

The Can-Am reference was me. I didn’t know Polaris made three wheelers too.

The Slingshot (the one I have) is significantly different from a Can Am Spyder. The Slingshot has "bucket seats", sits 5" off the ground (more like an adult go cart) has a steering wheel, seat belts and 3 wheels. It handles much like a sports car, very little roll and it's AWESOME in curves.... The Spyder is a "saddle seat motorcycle" has handle bars, sits much higher and although it is stable, can not take corners as fast as the Slingshot.

In Michigan, no motorcycle endorsement is required for the Slingshot, although helmets and seat belts are required. If you've ever been hit in the forehead by a Junebug, you'll always wear a helmet whether it's required or not. The Spyder does require a motorcycle endorsement, but not the same endorsement as a 2 wheel bike. I've got all the endorsements, can ride any of them, but with my DW and her "inability to grasp the concept of leaning"....
Well, this is my "mini Ferrari"... No leaning required

We go across the bridge several times a year, sometimes "just to get a pasty at Letho's"..... So, yes, even though the bridge toll makes it an expensive meal, it is a great way to spend an afternoon. We're looking forward to "scooting across the Mighty Mac on our butts" in the Slingshot

You may have a toy hauler in your future!! Lol! GF thinks she wants to test drive a sling shot so who knows...I like my Harley! Don't have room for both.

There are only a couple of toy haulers that are big enough for a Slingshot. It's 81" wide (front tire to front tire) and 150" long. So a 12' garage isn't long enough and a "split garage" (one with cabinets on one side) won't accommodate the front wheel width. We found a 7x14 "low hung" aluminum single axle trailer (one with an "honest 84" between the sides) and are having three 7' ramps built for it. Now it'll be a matter of whether to tow the boat or tow the Slingshot, depending on where we're going and for how long.

A larger toyhauler wouldn't allow me to tow the boat at all (with our 31' Cougar, the total length is 74') since we'd be too long. So if I did get a toy hauler to carry the Slingshot, I'd never be able to triple tow with the boat and our "favorite lake in the UP" which is down a 13 mile narrow dirt road, would be a place we could never tow something that large. We can barely make the turns and curves between trees with the Cougar, no way would a taller, longer rig navigate those roads. Besides, with the pole barn situation, I've got to build/add on so I've got enough storage as it is, adding space for that large a toyhauler just isn't in the cards, assuming I'd be "trailer rich/storage poor" if I also kept the Cougar (so I could still go fishing).....

See, I've already talked myself out of "trading up" or even getting a toy hauler

Be careful out there, a friend of mine and also my insurance agent had a client with one... had being the operative word.

He decided, at the last second, to take a freeway exit that he should have skipped and gone on to the next one... ended up flipping it and killing himself, older guy, in his sixties.

Awesome looking machine though
