Texas camping for the next few weeks / months
Something to think about…
We just canceled our reservations at Sam Rayburn (Twin Dikes COE Park) for the middle of September; any of y’all with reservations in the next several weeks for the coastal area and middle to lower East Texas should probably consider the same.
We also have reservations at Goose Island SP for the middle of November and are in a holding pattern on that until we can hear how the park fared and what the recovery plan reveals.

Javi I would say if someone is planning anything south and east of a line from say Austin to Tyler , it would be "iffy" and I would have a Plan B.
We've had 21+ inches of rain since this started. Some have had more.
Only entertainment is watching the metro***ual TV reporters that rarely get outside the downtown area.

I'm sure the worst flooding is yet to come. We've "only" had 9.2" where we are. Winds have been been steady 30+ mph since Friday night. We've got lots of limbs and debris everywhere. Rain hasn't stopped since then either...

I think we are at 48-52 inches so far for this event. Trinity River in my backyard is supposed to crest Saturday.
Sun appearing today.
I would definitely call any campground to check before I just showed up.
I would say anywhere from Corpus Christi to Biloxi.
And there is another possible storm in the "slot".

I have a reservation at Sandy Creek Park, but it's around Thanksgiving. I have been keeping up with all of the news. My in laws live in Sugar Land.

I'm getting a little concerned about finding gas now. I'm heading west tomorrow towards NM (then CO). People are rushing the pumps in the Austin area. I get about 9 MPG towing, so I plan on stopping in San Angelo.

mfifield01,
You might want to put a couple of 5 gallon gas cans in the back of your truck, just in case..... Hopefully you won't need them, but 10 gallons at 9 MPG is an extra 90 miles of "not walking" that might just save the day by extending your emergency range.... just in case.....
Safe travels...

I plan on bringing a full 6 gallon tank for the generator. That gives me 38 gallons.

There seemed to be a gas panic around here today, lines out into the streets, charging almost $3 a gallon, for regular, lots of stations with bags over the pump handles... reminded me of the 70s.
