Awning Maintenance

Hi
I have a 2013 Keystone Cougar 27RLSWE. With the paperwork that I received with the RV, there is paperwork for the awning. In the maintenance section, it says to lubricate with silicone. However, it doesn't say where to lubricate. Can anyone help me? thanks

Michael

Normally lubrication is for any joint.

I've had my Cougar since March of 2012 and have lubed all the moving joints with Silicone spray and have had no problems. Also keeping the batteries fully charged helps DC motors run for both the slide as well as the awning. Also check the screws that hold the awning assembly to the trailer, they can loosen up and start to wiggle free. Awnings sitting out in the rain during winter created black marks on the underside of the awning, I have found that the Swiffer mop, with its long broom handle makes an ideal way to clean and stop mold build up.

thanks for the information. I guess my specific question is lubing the big barrel that the awning rolls up on. Is there specific places that I should or should not lube?

No need to service the awning tube. One end houses the motor and the other end has a plastic washer that doesn't wear out. At least I have yet to see one worn out.
