New member from Maine

Hi....I am a new member fron the state of Maine. My wife and I are new RV'ers and while we have looked for some time we have never spent the night in an RV. We have also receintly retired and want to get away from the Maine winters for a month or two.
We have purchased a Premier 26RBPR which we will be pulling with our Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7. I have been assured by the dealer that our Jeep (7200# towing capasity) will have no problem pulling the trailer, but I just read some advice to the contary to this.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Congrats on the new rig. Once loaded it could weight up to 7500 pounds but if you load carefully you can keep it under 7200 pounds. The issue will most likely be payload. Your hitch weight will be 900 plus pounds added to whatever and whoever is in the jeep, plus 75-100 pounds for the hitch. if you are close to the payload it is doable if you are over you may want to re-look at it. I would try it this summer on short trips that include interstate driving. After that you will know if you will feel safe escaping old man winter with the setup!

Years ago we had a 7500lb TT and the dealer said "Your Tahoe will pull it fine". It did....and it stopped fine too! Throw at it a 53' box trailer going by you on the interstate...and it was a white knuckle ride. The short wheelbase made it sway very easy.

Hi, I'm also from Maine but live in the SC foothills. When visiting ME/NH we stay in campgrounds off the tourist path, places like Trenton, Alfred, Berwick, etc... After retirement we full timed for a little over 4 years. Went all over the country. If you have any questions about routes in and out of New England just send me a PM and I'll try and help with campground and routing information.
