New Chev, tow mirrors not so cool.

Changed out my srw Ram for a new drw Chevy. First trip, why can't I see back there like I used too?
Measured across from edge of glass to glass, 102 inches, WTH, my trailer is 102 inches. Measured across the mirrors on a Ram, almost 108 inches. Jeeze GM, I want my rear vision. Anybody pick up on this?

Stupid question probably, but are the mirrors extended out all the way?

Good question, feelings not hurt.
Manual extention, pulls out about 3 inches. Power folding, they stay swept back about 40 degrees. If they went straight out, could gain an extra 1inch maybe. But that seems to be functioning okay.
Fun fact, they will not open back up at highway speed...lol.

He has an HD. Tow mirrors available. They weren't redesigned for '19 like the 1500 Silverado.

2019 HD 3500 dually, manual extending mirrors. They changed the 1500's?

Yes 2019 is all new body style 1500. Mirrors attach on the door now not in the corner of the window. No tow mirrors available yet.

I'm thinking they will look the same as the 2020 HD mirrors.

2017 Chevrolet 3500 SRW / Avalanche 321RS.
Same problem here. With mirrors fully extended, cannot see any of the right side of the trailer. On the left side, i can barely see the trailers wheel well extensions. Major fail by GM. I do have the blind spot cameras on the mirrors and that helps some, but they are not an acceptable replacement for mirrors.

Ya. Big fail. Never even thought of checking. Quizzed a gm parts guy in Az, very helpful but tells me I have the widest mirrors they make. When I get home I'll stop at local dealer and pass a long my thoughts, maybe they will float up and 2025 will have better mirrors. Is there that few 102 inch wide trailers.

I noticed it with my 2017 gmc dually. My 2009 gmc dually was better, i could see around the Fuzion. With the 2017 could not see as close to rear of trailer. Just went back to Montana at 96 inches and can see good. GM sure let us down on this one. I gave up trying to figure it out. Used backup camera to help.

Max width is 8 1/2 ft. Maybe that's why they're only that wide.

Just curious how you measured the width of the mirrors. Friend of mine has a Chevrolet dually and bought a new 5th wheel that was a 102" wide. He commented how hard it was to see around it. When I bought my new trailer also 102" wide he warned me about this. With my Ford one ton I don't notice the problem or it doesn't bother me as much as it did him. Now you got me wondering if my mirrors are wider.

You got me curious so I measured the mirror width on my 2017 F350 and they are 108.5 inches wide at the edge of the glass.

I guess you got the measuring figured ( windows down, measure from edge of glass on mirrors). Nice that you have a bit more. As more trailers are being built to 102 inches, I would think mirrors would keep up.
Not 100% sure about legalities, but I believe hard parts are 102 inches max, mirrors do not count.

Yes lol, windows down. I knew what to do a few days ago but I don't drive it everyday so I kinda forgot about this post. Happened to be in it today and had my wife right there to hold the tape measure. She already thinks I'm crazy anyway so I didn't bother to explain [emoji38]

My 2015 is the same: 103" with mirrors in the normal position and 108" with them extended to the "max out" position.
