50a -> 30a

Some guy recently wanted to know what the consequences of running his 50A wired trailer would be on a 30A circuit. I am going camping at a place called the Utopia River Retreat in two weeks. It only has two RV slots and both are back in (another story). The slots are also both 50A service and I have 30A. I have owned a 50A to 30A adapter cord; about 2' long and has yellow connectors and black cable. It is Camco brand.

Any gotchas from using one of these adapters? Should I test continuity? I am not sure how it is wired so if I need to test it via continuity check, how do I do this? The adapter is likely new and has never been used. I picked it up several trailers ago from a newb who bought all this type junk. Never thought I would need it! I only have a 30A outlet at my home pole... thanks wg

No issues with adapting in either direction. 50A connections have two power pins, when you adapt to a 30A plug, it just eliminates one side so there are some items in the coach that will not work such as the second AC.

As far as plugging a 30A coach into 50A, again it just eliminates the second side of the plug so your 30A coach will work normal.

Plug in your adapter then the surge protector/ems then to the rv, you're good to go.
