Do i need a new converter, charger?

So i boiled my batteries to death. Totally my fault, bone dry and i never added water. They smell like asphalt.

I have the wf-8955pec that came with my trailer. The specs say it's a 3 stage charger. I'm getting new gc2 batteries from costco do i need a new charger, or is my current one sufficient?

As long as your current converter is producing 13+ VDC when first turned on, your good to go.

Ken, remember in elementary school you were told many times that "the stupid question is the one you don't ask." Answering "stupid/silly" questions is the reason we keep Chuckster around! (Oh, and to hear the continuing saga of his train horns on his truck)
On edit: Yes, you can check it at the battery terminals or at the connections on the converter if you can reach it. Battery is the more likely place.

I think you will like the GC2 batteries from Costco. I just finished 3rd season with a set.

Regarding the converter I’d do this...

Install new batteries and make sure you use a heavy gauge cable interconnecting the two in series.

With shore power on measure voltage at batteries. You may initially see 13.8 or so depending on state if charge if batteries.

It should drop down to around 13 .4 in a few hours.

It may finally enter “Float Mode” of 13.2 if nothing else draws on the system. Even just a few minutes of any lights on etc will prevent WFCO converter from being able to drop to float mode

My WFCO eventually does after a day or so.

Also buy a gallon of distilled water and check electrolyte level once a month
