What kind of Roof....

I'm getting ready to add a second A/C unit to my Fuzion Impact 303 T.H. I will be removing the existing vent in the garage roof and once the sealant is up and the screws have been removed that hold the vent in place, I will need to seal those holes before installing the A/C unit there. So I have a couple of questions...

1. Is eternabond tape a good product to use to seal all the screw holes?
2. Should I remove the screws and tape over the holes....or.....should I put all the screws back in ( filling the holes so to speak), then tape over the screws?
3. Most likely, what type of Roof do I have on this trailer...TPO or the EDPM?
4. What type of cleaner do I need for the roof prior to putting the eternabond down for maximum adhesion.

I know, more than a "couple" questions but I want to do this right the first time and not have to deal with any water leaks. Thanks

The AC unit will have a foam gasket that will cover all the vent holes so you really don’t have to do anything. I like to remove as much lap sealant as I can to make a smoother surface. Makes it easier for the gasket to seal to the roof.

Thank you Chuckster....the A/C unit arrives today, so I haven't actually seen how big the metal pan/gasket area is. I just assumed that it wouldn't big enough to cover the existing screw hole area. Hope you are right. I may still fill the holes with some Dicor lap sealant since I already have some at the house......what do you think?

If you fill the holes, the AC gasket will adhere to it and make a bigger mess if you ever have to remove the unit.

The gasket is going to stick to whatever lap sealant is left so why make it more difficult. I use a plastic scraper and try to remove as much as I can, just be sure not to leave any “chunks” behind. The gasket for the AC is about 1 1/2” wide and the inside edge is just about flush with the edges of the vent. You’ll see it covers all the original vent screw holes.

Yes Chip. I've been caught on that word too often. I started using PRESUME.
A smart person said it means about the same.

TPO roof

I checked the Trekwood website and they say your roof is TPO...see screen shot below.
Trekwood is probably the best place to find Keystone replacement parts or info about any particular part on your RV.

cleaning TPO roof

I found these items concerning cleaning TPO...one from the Eternabond website and one from the National Roofing Contractors Association. The Eternabond site has other bulletins about TPO roofs, and it seems that as TPO ages the surface degrades, so the Eternabond statement is saying you need to scratch/remove the weathered top surface to get to a clean surface for the micro sealant to stick to...sort of like prepping a surface for paint. The weathered surface is a bit porous for a good seal. Seems like if you remove the weathered surface you have accomplished most of the cleaning that is required once you wipe up the dust...might not need acetone!

Well it's one or the other. I assume/presume its EPDM as I have the same model trailer and looked at the roof on Saturday and it was.......drum roll.....EPDM.

Glad you asked. Here is the easy way.

Also, since you're taking your garage vent out, you'll have access to the membrane to check it.

Well I took the inside trim piece for the rear vent off today to get some more prep work done for the A/C install. My roof is the same color on both sides......TPO on the Impact 303 Chip. That's weird because your T.H. is just like mine except the garage on yours is 2' longer.

The one other difference that I just saw, yours is a 2016 and mine is a 2017.....maybe a change in roof covering between model years?
