drain identification

my new to me 2012 Laredo has 2 drains near the steps to the door. The one on the right is the fresh water drain as I camped this weekend and used it to drain the tank. I'm not sure what the other one is for, any ideas?

there is another drain like this on the other side, which i'm guessing is the hot water tank drain.

Also, what is protocol for draining fresh water tanks at campgrounds, drain it before leaving the site (on the ground)? Pump it all into your grey tank and then empty when at dump station?
