2017 Cougar 326 RDS - black tank smell in bedroom

Hello All,

I seem to have fixed the issue, or just masked it, but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this.

We had a sewage smell in our bedroom and even stronger in the storage compartment below the bedroom.

In the 326RDS the toilet drain pipe and the black tank vent pipe are run through the front pass-through storage area.

I siliconed every seal on the drain PVC, siliconed the 'floor' where the pipes pass down into the tank, and I foam sealed where they pass throught he storage ceiling and go into the camper.

After doing this there was no smell to be found, which was nice.

I feel confident it was something related to the vent pipe as there was no sign of a leak from the drain pipe. I am well aware that liquid leaks can reveal themselves far from the source, but there were no signs of a leak anywhere under the unit, and if there was a liquid leak related to the black tank it would be pretty identifiable.

OK, so that said. Has anyone else experienced this, more specifically with units that have the storage area and/or bedroom above the black tank?

(I did do a search, and I did find lots of threads related to black tank smell, but found nothing directly addressing this issue).

Thanks,
Mike
