What, do you mean I can't yet order a propane refill delivered to me by Amazon?

When they get bigger drones, I'm sure they will be able to pick up your cylinder, take it to be filled, and then return it. Just hope they don't drop any cylinders in the process.

Crossroads RV Park & Campground - Lyndon, Kansas. He fills the tanks full and charges only for what it takes. I can fill an empty 30 lb tank for about $25.

That's no bargain....$4 per gallon. Unfortunately that's what I paid last week at a hardware store in a tourist trap city. Was expecting $18 for my 30lb tank.

The Costcos that carry propane (not all of them do) usually have rock bottom prices. I believe Costco was filling a 20 lb tank for ~$9.82 when we left.

As the thread progresses I'm not sure how we all do LP refueling. For me, I never care about the price simply because I'm in X and X has whatever refills available. I don't shop around for prices when traveling...I just want a refill. I will say that some of the posts (as I recall after some time - memory) saying they were getting refills at .99 gal. ? I need to go there!! LP prices with as little as you use, vs good tires, roof upkeep, etc.? Hey I'm good with someone that will fill my tank....but that's just me and YMMV.

When near home the actual LP distributor is far cheaper (felgas in our area) than any other. Next would be farm and or ranch type places which is what we look for on the road especially in the south.

It's about $1 CDN per pound here in Qualicum Beach BC Canada. Less if tank is not empty. I have never seen a by the gallon setup, always a weigh scale.

Same here!
Unless running the furnace a 30lb tank would last a very long time , so generally filled 1-30lber per year was cheap at any price.

Flying J usually does mine, much cheaper than anywhere else. Last time I was filled at Flying J it was $2.25 a gallon, vs local Ace hardware at $4.25 a gallon.

We use very little propane, maybe filling a 30lb tank twice a year. So all I care about is convenience. If I spend $5 more per fill up, so be it. On a Pareto chart of camping costs, diesel fuel and campsites get my attention.

Our experience has been that Tractor Supply has the cheapest price in the area. Of course, like gasoline or diesel, propane prices vary area to area.

Just explore where you can get propane around your area, prices vary greatly.

I always prefer the 'per gallon' cost and not a tank price.

With gas/diesel prices up now also if you drive very far to save a few cents on propane you will have lost any savings plus more in fuel.
Just buy at the park or the closest spot, if a couple bucks a year in propane is a huge expense then rving was the wrong pastime to get into.

I never exchange. When you do you almost always only get 15 lbs. in a 20 lb tank. The only time I do is when the tank is out of date and I want a newer tank. Whether it's by the lb or gallon makes no difference just price accordingly. If you exchange at $19 you are really paying $25 equivilent to filling the tank. I pay $2.85/gal in GA to have it filled vs $1.40 for bulk at my s&b in NY. I also have a 100# tank at my winter base and that costs $60 to fill or about $2.50 per gal.
20# tank = 4.7 gal
30# tank = 7.1 gal
