Bedroom a/c (dual zone)

While doing some overdue housekeeping, I made a neat discovery on the faceplate of my Bedroom a/c that is easy to overlook.

As shown in the attached photos, there is a switchable lever in the ceiling grill to direct air into the bedroom directly, or divert the air into the central air ductwork. The lever is kind of hard to see. (note arrow in pics) My 5er is a '13 Alpine 3535RE with factory dual zone controlled Dometic units, but I'm willing to bet that I'm not the only one with this hidden option.

Is that what they're calling the whisper air system? I've been curious about the lack of dumps in the a/c system.

I was told by my dealer that is called a "quick chill" feature for just dumping the air in the room. We use that when we are setting up to get the temps down quickly.

You must have gotten a dealer installed 2nd ac as my system is completely ducted and on the roof only the 1 return and 2 supply vents are in my bedroom. Zone 1 dumps into zone 2 and zone 2 is a complete unit to augment. I have actually found that running zone 1 will supply enough air to the bedroom since it is about 25% of the flow of zone 2 and being such a small space, helps. The beauty of mine on my roof in my 2014 3535RE is it is much quieter...

Hartland does a good job explaining Whisper A/C. Their version is "Whisper Quiet", but same idea.
