Dometic Air Conditioner Model
How can I identify the model of the Dometic AC that came on my 2012 Cougar High Country 299RKS? I have already ordered one AC cover that didn't fit well.
Hopefully, it can be done without removing the outside AC cover. I think I removed the inside cover last fall without getting definitive information.

I'll have to check. Seems like I remember it being generic rather than specific, but I will check again tomorrow.

SkiSmuggs -
Two possible sources where you can find the model# of your A/C ----
1) Your unit should have come with a build sheet which lists a number of appliances and other items and their make and model number; or
2) If you bought your RV new, there should have been a package included which contained various owners' manuals - one of which should have been the A/C.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. I will have to check paperwork and manuals tomorrow when I have some time.

Manual is for all the models, you will need to find the model number tag.
Quote:
DOMETIC AIR CONDITIONER
Model and Serial Number of upper unit are located on the bottom of base pan & under shroud near compressor.
For systems using modular control kits be sure to obtain the model and serial number from the
Identification Tag affixed to the base pan as opposed to the control kit.

Good luck!

Remove the inside air filter cover and with a flash light you should be able to look toward the rear of the unit, on the passenger side of the air intake chamber, on the horizontal A/C bulkhead is a tag. The information is there. OR: climb on the roof, peer through the grate openings on the roadway side of the A/C, toward the back, along the side of the condenser is a tag. On a "sunny day" it's hard to read any of the information, but on an overcast day, using a flashlight, you can read the information on the label easily.
The owner's manual/installation manual for Dometic and Coleman air conditioners is a generic manual with a series of several models all included in the manual. You won't be able to find the specific model or series information from the documentation included in the owner's packet put together by Keystone. The information is on the "build sheet" but for most owners, it seems to be as "elusive" as the "Easter Bunny".
